I've been to these cities before, as a tourist, and would like to study German in one of them. I understand there's a little rivalry between them and that Dusseldorf is kind of posh, but would like to know more about the language, culture and people. Or any other info you think would be helpful.

I would say Cologne. It's the bigger city, and close to the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France. They know how to live there : beer, wine, food, carnival.

Just watch out that you don't pick up too much of the local dialect!

You're darn right there's a rivalry! Go with Cologne!

But seriously speaking, I don't think it'll matter too much which city you study German in. I'd go with Cologne though. They have a cool cathedral.

Cologne - housing in Munich and Düsseldorf is pretty expensive, plus Cologne is bigger and more interesting in terms of Nightlife etc.
