mock aurora borealis? this was not a aurora borealis in no way shape or form, aurora borealis doesnt make the sun shoot at you or dance around in the middle of the day, plus aurora borealis can be seen hundreds if not thousands of miles away it isnt localized to one area

I believe the word "alleged" kinda says it all

Later the article reads:

No scientific accounts exist of any unusual solar or astronomic activity during the time the sun was reported to have "danced", and there are no witness reports of any unusual solar phenomenon further than forty miles out from Cova da Iria[26].

It has been alleged that the fact that an unspecified "miracle" had been predicted in advance, the abrupt beginning and end of the alleged miracle of the sun, the varied nature of the observers as including both skeptics and believers alike, the sheer numbers of people present, and the lack of any causative factor, all reasonably preclude the theory of a mass hallucination[27]. That the activity of the sun was reported as visible by those up to 18 kilometers away, also precludes the theory of a collective hallucination or mass hysteria[27].

Visionaries claimed that the apparition now known as Our Lady of Fatima had promised in July, August, and September, that a miracle would occur on 13 October 1917 "so that all may believe". Pio Scatizzi, S.J. describes events of Fatima and concludes

The… solar phenomena were not observed in any observatory. Impossible that they should escape notice of so many astronomers and indeed the other inhabitants of the hemisphere… there is no question of an astronomical or meteorological event phenomenon …Either all the observers in Fatima were collectively deceived and erred in their testimony, or we must suppose an extra-natural intervention[28].

yes mass hysteria..... A lot of children think there are monster under there beds. That does not make it so......

"Fatima are taken from the writings of John De Marchi, an Italian Catholic priest and researcher." .... that sure sound like a unbiased source.

If Lady fatima is soooo great why doesn't she appear in the middle east and convert some muslims? How about curing aids in Africa? That would be a miracle not these lights in the sky and kids talking about superstitions.

People are fooled by scientology..... its really not that hard to fool the human brain.

Post-precipitation imaging in the form of water droplets can cause a mock aurora borealis in different parts of the world, and maybe even space dust that got in the way of the sun's light and caused it to seem dimmer than normal and the light refracting the sun's light appeared to make the sun "dance"

Or, hysteria (like the person above me said)

The miracle of the daylight that surpassed off on the Cova `da`Iria contained in the townland of Fatima can't be defined with the help of technological expertise and has to were the paintings of God. more desirable than 70,000 human beings witnessed it and between those were the Atheist Mayor of the neighboring city of Ourem. also modern-day develop into the Atheist press who stated what they talked about with large honesty it should be reported to their credit. Many have on condition that tried to recommend factors alongside with mass hypnosis and hysteria between different susceptible recommendations and those have not held up,why? because the miracle of the daylight develop into surely witnessed with the help of persons as a lot as 40kms away, and this too is documented and could be examine fairly surely. actually God develop into allowing this so as that unbelievers too would not be able to doubt this fantastic going on. i assistance every person even Atheists to examine and digest the tremendous quantity of genuine eyewitness expenditures from believers and non-believers alike. The interesting mission about this astounding miracle is that that is purely the 2d time in historic previous that a photo voltaic miracle has occurred, the first develop into at the same time as God stopped the adventure of the daylight for Joshuah.

I'm not an atheist. In fact I firmly believe that for the awesome 'Miracle of the sun' to accompany the message that Our Lady came with in 1917 was mainly to draw attention to the importance of the message and Her requests. This urgent appeal came from God who alone controls nature including the sun. Our Lady brought mankind this message from God and since it is the only way doubters would believe She stamped the message as authentic by perfoming this great miracle.
For more info about these requests and the message and whether they have been obeyed go to the following links:

It's easy to say after an event that you predicted it three months before it happened. Predicting the past isn't very impressive. Let's see them predict the future.

Did you actually read the article? There were other explanations offered. Besides, it sounds ridiculous, and not miraculous, that people would think a pretty light show was a sign of anything. I notice that there were no healings or waking of the dead.

Well not one piece of scientific equipment there to take measurements of anything. Nothing repeatable.......Just sounds like a wild story to me.
