either aleve or high dose ibuprofen-800mg, also do 20 minutes on/off heat packs (if you do longer than 20 minutes you'll have the reverse effect). hope you feel better!

First, I would NOT take him to get his ears plucked until the ear infection is cleared up. As far as the drops not helping, please call your vet, and tell them that the medicine the vet gave you to use is not helping and you think it has worsened! Poodles are known for getting ear infections. Here are a few things that cause them. Hair in the ear hole Moisture in the ear hole Large amounts of Beet Pulp in certain dog foods These three are the biggest problems and cause yeast infections which can be very hard to get rid of and treat. If they are treated vigorously First check the ingredients on the bag of food, look for the word 'beet pulp' that is a big source of Ear problems that I have found over the years. 'Beet pulp' is put into a large number of dog food as it's a stool hardener and it makes it sweet so that dogs like the food. A few now have beet pulp sugar removed like Eukanuba. What happens in 'Poodle ears' is that the canals are very narrow which hold moisture, thus anaerobic bacteria grows there which is a yeast; sugar products promote this as well as the fact that air can't get down there to dry it out. You can have surgery done on them if it's really really bad to reconstruct the ear canal (about $ 2500.) but that is not always the answer. Good Luck I hope your dog feels better soon :)

You did NOT say what the injury was . . .
Torn ligament ? Bulging disc ? What ?
Taking a pill without knowing , is like taking a pill for having a knife stuck in you . FIRST , you should remove the knife , then take a pill until it heals .
IF your injury is related to bulging discs then inflammation may be pushing on the nerve , and you need anti-inflammatory . . .
Which should be injected to the inflamed area as oral intake disperses the med all over the body and taking enough for efficacy can result in strokes and other permanent damage .
As evidenced by the long line of people who get busted for prescription abuse (mostly because you can't take enough to kill the pain , but they keep taking more anyway)
Just taking pills WITHOUT a clue is futile .
See the doctor , get an MRI or CAT and find out WHY .

I have the same problem with my back and the doctor gave me co-dydramol and amitryptilene. This medication was originally used for people with mental problems but they found that it has helped a great deal with chronic pain. I have to have an operation, but these medications do work and do not make me drowsy at all. Good Luck.

You may want to try another anti-inflammatory like Advil or Aleve. You may also find icing the area for 10 minutes every couple of hours useful. Be careful not to over-ice as you could get a little frostbite (done that myself). Other people find heat helps.
I have found some relief from Chiropractic and some physical therapy exercises.
Please report your progress - or lack thereof - to your doctor. He or she may want to prescribe a stronger anti-inflammatory or do some xrays to further pinpoint the problem.

No Allopathy medicine can cure Osteoarthritis.
There is one herbal medicine which cures Osteoarthritis in appro. 3 months depending upon the severity of your disease. If you have tried everything except this please do try this also. This works like miracle with No side effects.
Good Luck.

I understand your situation as I have the same problems. When the neuro surgeon told me there was nothing that could be done, I cried, got mad and made a decision to help myself. I walk as much as possible and to have stronger medication than Tylenol, but I vow to not be debilitated and not to be addicted to drugs. Good luck. You may contact me if you wish. Jan

Ibuprofen if you can take it. I am allergic to it. It stops my kidneys so be careful how much you take. It works better than Tylenol because it has an anti-flammatory in it to help reduce swelling.

You might find glucosamine helpful. It can be found at health food shops and in the health section of the supermarket. Its a natural alternative to strong medications.
