i'm trying to make a d-1 football team and im finding it incredibly difficult since i weigh only 170 lbs as a safety. i've been working out and i am getting stronger, but slowly, and im not getting heavier. i've taken a lot of stuff ranging from creatine to protein to weight gainer. none of it has helped me gain weight. is there some kinda supplement that slows metabolism?

there is no supplement that slows the metabolic rate.

have you tried counting calories? I have yet to meet a weight trainer that can not gain lean muscle mass when counting calories. you should be eating at least 4000 cals a day, and 3000 of those calories should come from whole foods with the rest from weight gainers

My advice is quit trying to gain weight and concentrate on muscle and to do that you need lots of good high quality low fat proteins. Cut way down on carbohydrates. Personally I'm a meat eater more than a milk shake drinker. If you put on muscle you'll be gaining weight. Increase your workouts and concentrate on the major muscle groups, chest, legs,etc..and keep the reps low like a power lifter would do. Like for chest do no more than 6 reps per set @ no more than 3 sets. For legs do things like squats no more than 8 reps per set @ 3 sets. Heavy poundages and as always use a spotter. You might try adding/using some amino acid supplement..free form and branch chained one's. If you don't like eating alot of meats stick w/a supplement for extra protein. If all else fails then try consuming somewhere between 5000-6500 calories a day. Once again high quality low fat proteins, low carbs, fruits and vegetables. And drink lots of water. I hope it helps! Are you well? Maybe you are sick.....
I have had a high metabolism my whole life, and just recently have been losing weight like crazy, I went to the doctor and I have hyperthyroidism, which speeds up the metabolism by almost 45%.

Or maybe you need to get a personal trainer and they can tell you the right ways to gain weight.
