find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

I have bad knees too, so i know running can be hard. try low impact excercises like crunches. Those are my favorite because they make you feel really toned after youve done only a set of like, 30. Also, try cutting out sodas if you drink them a lot. I did that and switched to unsweetened iced tea, which now i drink all the time. And the added bonus to iced tea is its low calories and its water, and water helps you to lose weight.
Good luck!

If you don't have a lot of time, here are some tips and a program that I would recommend to anyone who needs help with time management, motivation,& flexibility when it comes to losing weight.
To lose extra fat from your stomach area, follow the tips I have listed below.
1.Eliminate red meat from your diet, it stays inside of your body for over six days and causes belly fat.
2.Take Flax oil, it flushes your body of toxins and excess weight
3.Drink 8 to 12 Glasses of water
4.Go for a walk on your lunch break. If you are unable to fit it in, walk when you come home from work with your family or friend.
5.Drink 2- 3 cups of green tea per day it is a metabolism booster.
6.Eat five to six smaller meals per day. Eating breakfast is extremely important.
7. Eat grapefruit and citrus fruit they can natural help you eliminate body fat.
8. Go to the library or bookstore and check out a book on rhythmic breathing exercises. This can help you lose that stubborn belly fat by increasing fat oxidation and causing muscle contractions in your stomach. You can perform these exercises anywhere.
Although, these tips will help, I can tell you that when you are trying to lose weight, you will need something to fight the food cravings, burn excess fat, keep your mind and will focused, stay motivated, and feel fulfilled. When my patients come in for nutrition advice, I reccomend the B4A Extreme Weight Loss System. The system includes Hoodia and Soy Protein Supplements to suppress your appetite. A Green Tea Weight Loss Drink, customized fat burning workouts, and Pyruvate for fat burning, online counseling, scriptures. There are motivational tools for discipline and motivation. Plus, they give you online confidential assessments on how great you are doing and you get a variety of meal plans that includes every food you ever want to eat. There is no dieting and no restricted foods. There are no weekly weigh-ins. Moreover, there are no special foods you need to buy. Every thing is at your local grocer.
Speaking from experience, I have several patients that have lost anywhere from 25lbs to 153lbs safely and quickly. The B4A Weight Loss System is available at wwwdiscoverb4acom.

Good for you on getting sober! Ignore the idiots who mentioned an eating disorder as a way to lose weight. I think that fitday.com is a great tool and it is free to boot. you can keep track of your calories and it shows you in a pie chart how many grains, veggies, proteins you have consumed to reach your daily allowance. Also it tracks how many calories you burn from doing daily activities and also a workout. Weight Watchers online is also pretty cheap (i think anyway) it is how I lost my baby weight. Good luck to you... if you can get sober- you can lose this weight.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!

Same old thing, don't eat fast food, junk food or processed food, don't skip a meal, drink a lot of water, eat less beef, snack on carrots, apples, yogurt, cottage cheese, don't eat after 7 p.m., don't drink sugared drinks. Take a multi-vitamin. Move your body, whatever it is.
Congrats on your sobriety. I know it was hard to break that habit and "they" say we replace one habit with another, so what can I say, I don't have an answer.

Congratulations on your sobriety ... good job. The weight will come off in time .. don't worry . Stress puts on the pounds!!! For me, anyway! What about bicycle riding? ? Or, walking. You might not think walking will get rid of the pounds, but it will, if you walk long enough! ! Good luck ! !

BETH,
THE ONLY SURE WAY IS TO COUNT CALORIES AND NOT EXCEED MORE THAN 1,500 -1,800 CALORIES PER WEEK. IF YOU ALSO ADD SOME LOW IMPACT EXERCISE LIKE WALKING OR SWIMMING.
THE OTHER THING TO DO IS TO CHANGE YOUR LIFESTYLE TO HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT. GOTO THE LIBRARY AND READ DR. PHIL McGRAW'S BOOK "THE ULTIMATE WEIGHT SOLUTION."
