Sure peoples in some areas / countrys are getting more edumacated, butt after they reach a certain pont, they will start to get dumberer just like we. Dids Christians in the past no more about God than Christians today? Dids athiests in the past no more about athiestism than athiests today? Sometimes I think us are the dumbererest peoples ever.

I think the people that end up telling you that you're proving yourself right because of your bad spelling will be the ones to prove you right, because they are so dense that they didn't even realize the irony that you used.

The poor grammar was so obviously intentional that a stupid person who is so eager to call someone else stupid would jump at the chance to mock your fake stupidity.

I mean, did they really think a person would say edumacated but still know how to spell certain, christian, and athiest?

Kudos to you for catching the unedumacated people... and I love the athiestism part!

In the 1840's a man named John Darby came up with this belief that the Christian Church is a "Parenthesis", whatever that means. Appearantly he meant that the Church is like God's plan B and since the Jews rejected Jesus Christ, God decided to offer the Gentiles (rest of the world) salvation if they believe. The Jews, according to John Darby, are still God's people and he will save them some other way. John Darby came up with a rapture theory that will wisk away all christians before the beggining of a 7 year tribulation period. During that Time the Temple in Jerusalem will be rebuilt and destroyed by some Anit-Christ Well then Jesus and the Heavenly army will come down in the clouds and kill all the bad people at the end of the 7 years tribulation. Then the 4th Jewish Temple will be rebuilt and Jesus Christ will set on a Thrown in Jerusalem and rule the world for 1000 years.

There is absolutely no Biblical defense for that. In fact if you truely understand the Bible you will see that John Darby's Dispensationalism is fiction.

Yes I would say people get dumber as generations pass. Late Great Planet Earth, Left Behind Series, John Hagee, Benny Hinn. Oh yes.

Well, there's the Flynn Effect discovered by some scientist named 'Effect' (nyuk, nyuk). It's basically the idea that when a society becomes industrialized, IQ rises significantly for the first 2-3 generations due to improved nutrition and compulsory education. After that, the Flynn Effect doesn't seem to work any more.

However, there's a counter-effect that's often called 'dysgenics' or something like that. It basically means that stupid people are out-breeding smart ones. Most of the intelligent people I know seem to have totally abandoned parenthood, and lots of burnout women seem to get pregnant simply by standing downwind from some Neanderthal thug.

I think that the American Empire has peaked and the unholy combination of the Neo-Cons in power and the dumbing-down effect going on in America means that we're quickly turning into a new Brazil...

I like how you used a very clever persuasive literary device to show how vague of an education we receive. So I applaud you on your efforts. However you cant necessarily say that each generation get dumber(hint dumberer just sounds like your a person who has down syndrome since it is a word which is non existent) if anything its not the generation in a whole who get dumber it is the lack of proper English that is really being abused. I base this on how we come far in science with new discoveries in treatments to disease and exploration of space. But we are a generation of relaxed terms and speech. So there is just a taste of the truth...now for the love of god please stop typing like an infant with mental retardation.By the way I am 14 just so you know that I am not by any means lying when I say that my generation has flaws but tis not full of unintelligent individuals

Children today learn algebra in the 7th and 8th grade...that's pretty good...

people seem to not know how to live together as a society.

But that is because so many cultures live together. Not just races and nationalities either. (East-coast, west-coast, north, south...rich and poor, upper middle class, lower middle class)... All the culture have a different way of socializing that is concidered good and bad...so if you are an upper middle class person from florida and you are talking to a poor person from new york...you will think that they are idiots.

Back in the day social groups, races, and ethnicities, did not mix for any reason. Today, we are eachother's neighbors.

nice. i don't know if people are getting dumber, it certainly seem that way. i guess it all depends. the older generations are getting smarter (technological advances). some people in the younger generations are getting dumber. more than half the freshman class of 04 in my high school managed to fail all their classes. they had one of the lowest GPA in the state, which sucks because our school is one of the best in the state. i think they're just so into the material world that they don't care about education, just about having fun.

ps-if u haven't already, i'd suggest watching the movie Idiocracy with Luke Wilson. it's pretty funny. somewhat answers your question.

I think intelligence factors are the result of what people hear and accepting them as fact without taking the time to research for themselves into finding out what is true or not.

That is the principal of faith, anyway, and it isn't a question of who knows more today than, say, 50 years ago. What's more important is how strongly you believe and accept in your life to have any significance on personal life.

As things go on we forget and knowledge is lost. Many books from past have been lost and burned in fires. Documents and important people forgotten. Then we improvise and things get confusing. So it is not that we are dumber its we have forgotten and don't try to remember.

In the West I believe this is the case (I can't speak for the East.) The lower the intelligence, the easier to convince someone to be a conspicuous consumer (via insecurity/fear messages,) & since money makes the West go 'round, I think we're just seeing the tip of a terrible iceberg.
If you haven't seen it, the comedy movie "Idiocracy" addresses this issue;

(Although it's too close to the truth to be truly funny, really.)
