Mary Magdalene was a woman from whom Jesus cast out seven demons (Luke 8:2). The name Magdalene likely indicates that she came from Magdala, a city on the southwest coast of the Sea of Galilee. After Jesus cast seven demons from her, she became one of His followers.
Mary Magdalene has been associated with the "woman in the city who was a sinner" (Luke 7:37) who washed Jesus' feet, but there is no scriptural basis for this. The city of Magdala did have a reputation for prostitution. This information, coupled with the fact that Luke first mentions Mary Magdalene immediately following his account of the sinful woman (Luke 7:36-50), has led some to equate the two women. John 11:2, though, identifies the women in Luke 7:36-50 as Mary of Bethany, not Mary Magdalene.
Mary Magdalene is also often associated with the woman whom Jesus saved from stoning after she had been taken in adultery (John 8:1-11) - again an association with no evidence. The movie “The Passion of the Christ” made this connection. This view is possible, but not explicitly taught in the Bible.
Mary Magdalene witnessed most of the events surrounding the crucifixion. She was present at the mock trial of Jesus; she heard Pontius Pilate pronounce the death sentence; and she saw Jesus beaten and humiliated by the crowd. She was one of the women who stood near Jesus during the crucifixion to try to comfort Him. The earliest witness to the resurrection of Jesus, she was sent by Jesus to tell the others (John 20:11-18). Although this is the last mention of her in the Bible, she was probably among the women who gathered with the apostles to await the promised coming of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:14).

Our best evidence tells us that Mary Magdalene was the women caught in adultery, who was saved by Jesus.
She later became one of his most loyal disciples, and also contributed money and other resources to his ministry.
On another level, with somewhat less certainty, we have evidence that Mary Magdalene may have been the wife of Joseph of Arimathea, who was Jesus' uncle, a wealthy tin merchant, and a member of the Jewish Sanhedren, who claimed Christ's dead body, and laid it in his own newly hewn tomb.
If this is true, and it probably is, then Mary Magdalen would be Jesus' aunt.
Mary Magdalen would also have likely picked out the location, and also helped to determine the specifications for Jesus' tomb.
Perhaps this is why she was the first one there on Easter Sunday, and why she seemed to know the area so well.
Mary Magdalene has been declared a saint of the Catholic Church, and her feast day is July 22.

Mary Magdalene was the wife of Jesus, a senior member of his disciples and herself of royal blood.
She is reluctantly recognized by the Catholic Church as a saint- but through the insulting and degrading accusations that she was an adulterer, possibly a prostitute who repented and was saved.
Contrary to the Gospels written by Paul of Tarsus and jealously guarded as true by the Vatican, the Gospel of Thomas clearly shows Magdalene was at least equal to all the other disciples and was morally stronger than them.

One of the more creative arguments used by Catholic apologists, spin merchants and Pr agents in recent times is to claim that Mary Magdalene was married to Joseph of Arimathea.
Given Arimathea is an anagram for Ha Rama Theo (His Divine Highness), this is highly unlikely as it would make Magdalene Jesus's mother.

She was a disciple of Jesus. He healed her by exorcising 7 demons from her (Luke 8:2). She was not the mother of Jesus, nor was she a prostitute as is often said.

She was a disciple of Jesus. Whether she was married to Jesus is highly speculative and has no historical or factual basis.
