Split ends are the result of dry hair, brushing and pulling.
Get a good hydrating shampoo and conditioner. Not the crap from a supermarket. I recommend L'oreal Professional Intense Repair. Both the shampoo and conditioner will cost about $40 - $50 but the products are concentrated and will last longer than supermarket brands if used correctly. Only wash your hair every other day if not every 3 days unless you have extremely oily hair.
Excess washing causes the hair to dry out.
If you have long hair. Do not use a brush after a shower, get youself a larger wide tooth comb. Comb from the ends to the scalp and do not yank on the tangles, be gentle and they will come out.
If you do ponytails. Do not pull them tight to the scalp. Pulling you hair tight to the scalp in a ponytail will cause breakage.
And the most important thing.....get regular haircuts (every 4-6 weeks).
I doubt what you are seeing at your scalp is broken hair, it is probably new hair growth. Follow the steps above and you will eventually have healthy hair.
P.s. No those shampoos don't really work. Don't stress everyone has split ends.

Have your stylist trim the split ends, use a gentle shampoo, use a wide toothed comb on wet hair. As for a great home remedy for great hair - Real mayonnaise!

Get your hair cut. Then use a good shampoo/conditioner. K-PAK works very well, but you have to buy it in a salon. Basically you need to use salon quality shampoos and conditioners (What's sold in regular stores contains wax to smooth your hair, but it just ends up adding to a buildup and doesn't let the hair "breathe") and make sure to have your hair trimmed at least once every 8 weeks. The only real way to get rid of split ends is to cut them off. If it's really up to your scalp, cut off as much as you can and take very good care of your hair and trim every 3 to 4 weeks.

Try extra virgin olive oil. My sounds odd but it works. Helps strengthen hair follicles and treat split end. Has been an home remedy in my family for years. I like to use Garnier fructis long and strong hair shampoo and conditioner for added strength. Hope this helps!!!

attempt to not straighten your hair as lots. I straighten my hair daily, and that i additionally use a warmth protectant, yet i'm getting split ends lots too. I put in a lot of conditioner and pass away it in for 10 minutes interior the bathe, rinse off with cool water, run a comb by using my hair, and put in pass away in conditioner. attempt putting greater warmth protectant spray on the ends of your hair. additionally, look on Google for some categories of hair mask you additionally could make at homestead with undemanding aspects. wish I helped! stable success:)
