Put some of your after care ointment/lotion on it.

Lighty pat it - some even say slap at it.

Ice pack.

NO scratching, even lightly.

Don't scratch it, even gently - it's way too tempting to just give in to the itching and end up scratching it properly! But you can do things in order to confuse your brain into believing your skin isn't itching. Basically, your brain can only process one sensation at a time - if you gently touch the skin where it's itching, with your fingertips (or some people swear by slapping it, but really, just running your fingertips over the area will do the job) then your brain's so busy noticing that, that it temporarily forgets about the itching. But don't let yourself scratch it; you run the risk of messing up your tattoo.

Hope this helps - and don't worry, the itching stage doesn't last all that long!

ok I have been given TD, yet i'm precise if the tattoo is completley healed like accomplished peeling. you may rub your palms over the tattoo, and not sense it meaning its no longer raised then its healed, and scratching merely slightly won't mess it up. I even have 4 and that i've got merely occurred to itch over a tattoo after its healed COMPLETLY and it did no longer harm it. Now in case you dig in and scratch properly it relatively is undesirable do no longer do this, yet different than that it's going to no longer harm it.

Dont stratch it at all!!! Thats a huge rule in the tattoo world, although sometimes hard to obey. When it becomes itchy its because its healing and its dry. You should have been instructed to apply a NON scented lotion like eucerin or curel on top of it, whenever its dry or 3 times a day. Only apply thin THIN layers of lotion and work it into the entire tattoo gently.
Scratching will definitley help you LOSE ink.. and no one wants that :(

Do just work some lotion into it when it gets itchy or gently tap/slap it.

Nope, if you knock the scabs off too soon, you can draw the ink out and mess up your tat.

I use the 'scratch around the tattoo' method, or the 'slap yourself and look silly' method. Niether really work, but I just can't sit there while it itches and do nothing.

I was told to make a fist and LIGHTLY rub the tat with the back of your fist. Never tried it, but thats what they said.

the guy who gives my tattoo's says that you can lightly rub with a cloth... but it is best not to scratch... it could cause for it to become spotty...

I do not think that would hurt, if it itches that bad maybe you can put a drop of gold bond lotion or powder on it that will take the itchieness out.
