I need to find a good argument regarding the enivornmental effects of technology progress.

My argument is that even today we have combustible engines , oil refineries and we are able to raze down an entire forest in just a couple of days... the progress of technology will allow us to raze down entire forests faster, etc... This reduces oxygen and increases CO2 which causes global warming?

Did that come out right? x_X

Your premise is reasonable to a point. The decimation of the forests will contribute to, but not cause, global warming.

Yes it did come out right.

I answered your previous question as well and in my answer I explained that oxygen wasn't a factor in global warming.

Carbon dioxide is a factor and deforestation plays several roles in the issue of global warming.

Trees photosynthesise and part of this process involves absorbing atmospheric carbon dioxide. If we cut down trees we reduce the amount of CO2 that is absorbed. Further, when a tree is cut down and burned or allowed to decay the carbon in the tree is released - in effect, much of the CO2 the tree has absorbed whilst growing is released back into the atmosphere.

I give you my energy and my best wishes that you help this world. you are on the right track don't stray from the mother earth. Tracy Chapman was right when she said the rape of the world. Hey look up some artist/actors and get some people with power over the popular public also look up the company's that say thy are not hurting the environment, asking the Internet is petty time, look into those who deny! Also search for environmentaly safe i bet youll get alot there!

With our current knowledge and technology we are able to destroy forests and to contribute to global warming but not to revert the process. We should be understand of our technology limitations...perhaps this will change but hopefully it will not be to late.
