Just a phrase of warning. Raw oats are like uncooked rice, they develop for your belly when exposed to moisture. Don't devour an excessive amount of otherwise you might be in quite a lot of suffering. We almost lost a horse who acquired into the oats a few years back. He used to be lucky, he failed to consume enough to rupture his stomach. The makers of Metamucil have simply come out with a water soluble fiber that can be introduced to almost something according to the advertisements. Maybe whatever like that would work better for you.

There's nothing wrong with eating uncooked oatmeal, in fact, my horse loves eating raw oats, and has no problem digesting it. And I should add, the old boy is as healthy as a horse.

It wouldn't be a problem, but you can get just as much fiber from eating it cooked. I make the long-cooking type and refrigerate it. It warms well in the micro-wave with a little water or milk - add some cinnamon, too.

Yes, you can eat it raw, muesli has oats as one of their item too and it is not hard for our stomach to digest it...

Yes! Maybe with a little cinnamon. It's like eating muesli or trail mix.

I suspect it'd be like chewing bits of cardboard.

Try a high fiber prepared cereal or multigrain crackers (like Kashi).
