No, it can cause balding.

Traction alopecia is a form of alopecia, or gradual hair loss, caused primarily by pulling force being applied to the hair. This commonly results from the sufferer frequently wearing his or her hair in a particularly tight ponytail, pigtails, or braids.

Pulling your hair in a tight ponytail will not help the hair grow. As a matter of fact, the rubber band will break the hairs and make you have less hair instead of more.
What will help the hair grow is massaging your scalp. While washing your hair, use the pads of your fingertips to massage your head. This will help increase the blood supply to your scalp and hair roots. Start from above your forehead and massage across the top of your head to the nape of your neck. Don't forget the area right above your ears! In a few months, you'll see how much faster your hair will grow.

No. A tight ponytail can break off hair. There isn't really anything to make hair grow other than scalp stimulation. Get some oil and massage scalp... A healthy diet will help too!

no, i am a hair beautician from Los Angeles. All this does is strain the follicles and make them irritated. This can result in bad scalp pimples or dotted foreheads (the tension from yoru scalp follicles runs down in your blood, stopping under the skin of your forehead and settling there). Do not do this. If growing your hair is important, get extensions.

I'm not an expert, but I would have to say no. That is not true. I'm not sure if there is any sure fire way to help your hair grow faster, but you may want to try taking a daily multi vitamin. Healthy hair starts with a healty you.

no it will break off your edges and the hair around the ponytail if you wear it often. it puts too much stress on your hairline and hair itself.
