1. Both transport materials within vascular plants (are types of vascular tissue). But xylem carries water and dissolved minerals; phloem carries food.

2. Both are types of diffusion, but osmosis is the diffusion of water across a selectively permeable membrane.

3. Both have to do with making food in a producer. Photosynthesis is the process that builds the glucose. Chlorophyll is the green pigment that absorbs light energy to power photosynthesis.

4. Root crops are foods like sweet potatoes and beets that can be sold for a profit. Tubers are underground food-storage stems that might be mistakenly termed as "root" crops ... potatoes, for instance.
