When a bunch of people are riding an elevator, and it comes to a stop, is a man supposed to let the women get off first? What about if I am closest to the door? then, is it ok to get off first?

If you are actually blocking her way of getting off, you should exit first. If it's possible to stand to the side, you should do so.

I say the people closest to the door should get out first. It's more important to exit the elevator quickly, then to let all the women off first. I don't like to be in elevators for too long, so I like people to be quick when getting on and off.

I say whoever is closest to the door gets off first, be they male or female. Oh and whoever gets to the door first holds it open for everyone else. That's just common elevator courtesy

Generally the man does let the woman off first, but if you are closest to the door, leave. It would simply be awkward for both of you if she had to walk around you.

I say go for speed rather than gender-based courtesy. Whomever is near the door should exit first. One of my biggest peeves is people barging into a crowded elevator instead of letting other get off first.

If one works there they should let all person(s) exit. If whoever is closest to the door they get off.

If you are closest to the door then get off. It is nice to see there are still some guys with your standards.

This is one place where who ever is closes to the door exits first, no matter their gender.

If you are next to each other let her pass. If you are blocking the passage, just get out. You wouldn't want her to try and squeeze through! Right?
