find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

It may sound like a deceptively simple thing to do, but depending on how much weight you're trying to lose simply counting calories and restricting yourself to approximately 2,000 a day along with finding an outside activity to do thats fun and not a chore (Tennis or swimming maybe?) can help you lose a good deal of weight. This doesn't necessarily mean a diet but just lowering the amount of what you usually eat.
If you're seriously overweight you might be eating several times 2,000 calories in which case lower it to 2,500 - 3,000 calories. Suggestions like fruit, canned tuna and boneless skinless chicken breasts really aren't that expensive if you plan on actually organizing a diet.
I'd ignore most of the heavy-handed suggestions about specific brands of food or anything like that, because, honestly, doing that reaches into expensive territory.

Eat a balanced diet that has less calories than your body uses. Increase the the amount of exorcise you do so that your body uses more calories.
There are no magic diets. Any "diet" to lose weight must be something that they can stay on PERMANENTLY or they will regain the weight they lost when they stop the diet.
Now, there are "helpful hints" on how to do this, and the more of them a person knows, the easier it is to maintain a healthy diet and healthy weight. I suspect that there are books in the library that will help you find out what these "helpful hints" are.

Honestly, a diet really shouldnt be a diet,
due to the restrictive nature of diets.
Its all about perspective. The whole you
cant eat this and dont eat that makes our
human nature of choice feel restricted and
thats why diets fail. They tell us what to and
what not to do. Thing of healthy eating
as a choice. "Do I really have to have an
extra serving" or "Would I really be happier
if I have that sugary muffin?" These mental
assessments make the choice come back
to us and we are less likely to want to rebel.
Also, healthy eating should cost less than
its counter due to the things you CHOOSE
not to eat. Pops, fried chips, donuts, etc add
up and can cost more than a typical pure
(tea only) tea or health cereal. I myself just
check the health section/organic section for
sales. MANY times I find awesome delicious
organic cereals with TONS of protein and fiber
for 2 bucks a box. Just know where to look.
And just think. If Adam and Eve wouldnt have
been able to recognize or make it (for the most
part) then dont eat it. Theres exceptions like
vitamins and stuff of course, but its a good rule
of thumb!

talk to your doctor first to make sure there aren't any health issues that would prevent you from diet and exercise. then start your program.
run these by your doctor-
the south beach diet- just get the book at a second hand bookstore and follow it. a coworker of mine went from being huge to normal in a very reasonable amount of time doing it, and was never hungry. he loved it.
weight watchers- you can learn about the program by joining when they have a free membership promotion or a cheap promotion, and go to the first few meetings to learn the program. then you're home free. they teach you how to eat right. i used to be 160lbs and now i'm 110lbs.
so run those by your MD and see what s/he thinks. they're both nutritious and you can lose a good bit of weight.

give up soda (even diet), cut out carbs. Increase your protein and fruit and most important exercise daily even if it is just walking/biking. When you walk/bike, time yourself and then try to beat your own time each week. Everytime you sweat you are buring fat not muscle and remember muscle weighs more than fat so do not get discouraged if the weight doesn't come off. In fact, don't weigh yourself - measure yourself.
If you dont like aerobics, try watching Total Body Sculpt great motivator and terrif exercises

properly, what I did replaced right into a low-caloric, intense protein/ low carb eating ordinary. quite what this replaced into, replaced into proscribing the energy I ate (label analyzing) and ate meals that have been greater in protein then carbs. On precise of this, you're able to desire to do cardio. whether that's strolling, elliptical, or bike. you in basic terms would desire to have motivation, and on an identical time because it could't be easy, it is going to pay off interior the top. good luck :)

Don't diet. Switch to whole foods. Most stuff in stores are not whole foods. Whole foods are not processed. Don't buy fast foods or drink soda. Whole foods, elimination of fast foods and soda will eliminate any weight problem.
Oh, one other thing. Add some exercise.
