I am a fairly normal guy. I don't dress or act outrageously.
A girl who is in one of my classes is a complete goth. She wears all black all the time, including her makeup.
Anyhow, she is always flirting with me and said she would like to hangout sometime. How she has taken an interest in me I do not know, because I am not into the goth scene or lifestyle. I am a plain Joe.
Should I give her a chance? What would motivate people to wear all black all the time? Are goth chicks usually a bit mentally unstable?

Go for it! Outside appearances are not what's important. Perhaps she is just really expressive, or she is a nonconformist. At any rate, if she acts nice, she probably is. I have worked with some people who are sort of "goth," and they're totally stable people. Try to get to know her better, and you'll have a greater understanding of what she's about.

Goth is largely just a style. I went through my own phase in high school and sometimes revisit it today. That doesn't mean she's any more mentally unstable as you or anyone else. The question is, do you like her as a person? Do you think you could be friends with her? If you can answer yes to these two questions, give her a chance. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Whatever suits your interest. They are like everyone else (well not really cause everyone is different)- they were the clothes that they like and what they feel comftarble or "cool" in. Go ahead, you can give her a chance. I wouldn't necessarily say that they are mentally unstable though. Everyone is different and just because they wear black doesn't necessarily mean they are unstable. However, they have their own customs and rules on how they think is the proper way to behave and it will be a different experience for you.:)

yes you should, i am goth and i am not at all mentally unstable i know some people who are, and so what if she wears black, that how she likes to look, so ya give her a chance and i can tell by your question that you dont have a clue what goth is, so give her a chance and you might find out and dont try to change her at all that would lead to a disaster

I think you should give her a chance, just because she dresses differently doesn't mean she is any less of a person and if she really likes you, then what do you have to lose?...and no, 'goths' aren't usually mentally unstable, that's just a stereotype.

Hey man, just because she is gothy doesn't mean she is wierd. Maybe she likes your personality, and thinks you're an OK guy. I've never dated a goth girl before. but I can put it to you this way. My ex was one of the prettiest girls in my school. She is really smart, top of the class, and even won our Jr. Miss pageant. I never thought I ever had a chance with her. But, I spent 4 years with her, and dated her foor 3 1/2. Maybe she sees something in you that is attractive to her.

Look dont label people... just because she may prefere black and being an individualist doesnt mean she is mentally unstable or anything of that sort. So give her a chance.DONT BE IGNORANT! A person is more than what he or she wears and what bands or beliefs they have.

Well my best friend wears pink all the time, even her shoelaces and underwear!
I'd say give her a chance, she's into the goth lifestyle but she also might like ''normal'' things too, and you could form a good friendship.

I have to laugh at that last part.
A lot of the time, they're genuinely depressed or it's just the thing to be...like it's "cool" to be gothic nowadays.
I think the chance that they are mentally unstable is low.
BUT...
You could be friendly back. I don't think it's a good idea to ask her out or anything if you're not genuinely interested.
She might also lose interest. Girls sometimes get random obsessions for no reason.

You should give her a chance. That is if your interested. Some people just feel more comfortable in the color black. no there not unstable they just want to be different, to be their own person. It would be boring if we were all the same.
