he just doesn't want anyone to become alchoholics

Ecclesiastes 9:7 instructs “drink wine with a merry heart.” Psalm 104:14-15 states that God gives wine “that makes glad the heart of men.” Amos 9:14 discusses drinking wine from your own vineyard as a sign of God’s blessing. Isaiah 55:11 encourages “yes, come buy wine and milk…”
What God commands Christians regarding alcohol is to avoid drunkenness (Ephesians 5:18).

That's true, drinking (in moderation) is totally okay. But anyone who chooses not to drink, that's fine too - they have their reasons. It's an individual choice.

Most wine back then was not fermented. They drank it with their meals as the water was so bad. Jesus did turn water into wine but it does not say if it was fermented or not.I do not think it is wrong to have a drink now and then and I am a Christian. But drink to access?no it is not good for the body and spirit.

in new testament times, the water was not very clean. without modern sanitation efforts, the water was often filled with bacteria, viruses, and all kinds of contaminants. the same is true in many third-world countries today. so, people often drank wine because it was far less likely to be contaminated. in 1 timothy 5:23, paul was instructing timothy to stop drinking the water [which was probably causing his stomach problems] and instead drink wine. in that day, wine had alcohol, but necessarily not to the degree it is today.

that being said, alcohol, consumed in small quantities, is neither harmful or addictive. In fact, some doctors advocate drinking small amounts of red wine for its health benefits, especially for the heart

Think of Noah after the flood. As a token of celebration, he planted a vineyard and made wine. Now the only thing that Noah did wrong was getting wasted off it. Constantly drunk. So it is ok to drink, but not get sloshed in the brain because we all know where it leads. (i.e. Fights, drunk driving, death...)

I agree it's fine to drink and I agree drunkenness is a sin (that leads to many other sins like wrath, gluttony, lust and abuse).

Jesus not only drank wine, but He made it the focal point of His first miracle at Cana.

Hebrews did not drink or make anything like "grape juice." That's an American breakfast beverage.

God bless.

My favorite scripture is:
Deuteronomy 14:24-26 (King James Version)

24And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:

25Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:

26And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,

Yes, everything in moderation. Go to Proverbs and see that He also condemns a drunkard.
