Washing away wrong appetites is what is meant here.
Example: If a person feeds their appetite with porn all day then their spirit is lead into unbelief. And if that person replaces that addictive appetite with the Word. Then that person can wash away the sin nature more readily, and build upon their faith by renewing their minds appetites. The washing away of the old memories is like erasing a chalk board... :)
Titus 3:5 the washing of regeneration,
Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word

We are to meditate on the Word of God. No it is not brainwashing if our minds are being renewed with the Truth of the Holy Bible.

Well I guess it is. Is the term brainwashing really bad? When a person is an alcoholic and they are sent to rehab what happens to them? Are they not brainwashed? If cleaning my brain will make me a better person, I say it is ok.

I don't understand the question, unless you are using brainwashing in a positive sense.
I would say that reading the truth is always enlightening and refreshing to the mind.

I think it depends on how you take it, or who you hear it from. Listening to a fanatic is pretty brainwashing itself. But listening to a preacher can be informative. And how is truth brainwashing? Only lies are brainwash material. Truth is something that hidden because it's damaging sometimes.

I did know that, and I'd still prefer to wash up with soap, water, and logic than the "Word".
But yes, that is brainwashing in probably the most literal sense of the word.

The Word of God we are to wash in is Christ Himself. He is available even to the illiterate.

Your argument is invalid because your "truth" is not the truth. A lie by definition cannot become the truth. Also, the word "truth" is an improper noun and thus should not be capitalized.

How do you know it's "the truth". Not trying to critisize but sometimes you can't just be spoonfed the word of 'god'.
