if so, do you actually act like it or do you just say that.. we need to stick together and actually stand for what we believe in

I would stand on a rooftop and shout, "I am a Christian!" I don't just say it...I mean, I live it, and it is who I am! Without Jesus, I would be lost!! Thank you, Lord, for saving a wretch like me! I love Jesus with all my heart, soul, mind, body, etc. I love Jesus more than any human, friend, family member, etc.

I agree that Christians should stick together!!

I am a Christian who enjoys life. I no longer attend meetings in the bars with my spiritual advisors Jim and Jack nor do I continue look for love in all the red light districts. I am happily married and try to show my children how to live in peace and love. It isn't always easy but through much prayer by my wife and friends, it is very attainable.
Some of the men I minister to in the county jail that have been released stop in where I work and ask if I still preach in the jail and that it means a lot that I take time out of my schedule to talk with them.
The people I work with continually ask me to pray for this or that. I must be doing something right and yet I still manage to have fun.
I agree that we should stand up for our beliefs but I also feel strongly that Jesus was not all serious and had a fun side. Do not compromise what you believe in and do all things as unto the Lord.

Yes I'm a christian. And yes, I *do* act like one, I don't just say it. Jesus lived the part, and so should we. Like Jesus did, I also preach about God's Kingdom. (Luke 4:43) If you're gonna talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk. (So to speak.)

1 Peter 3:15-17: But sanctify the Christ as Lord in YOUR hearts, always ready to make a defense before everyone that demands of YOU a reason for the hope in YOU, but doing so together with a mild temper and deep respect. 16 Hold a good conscience, so that in the particular in which YOU are spoken against they may get ashamed who are speaking slightingly of YOUR good conduct in connection with Christ. 17 For it is better to suffer because YOU are doing good, if the will of God wishes it, than because YOU are doing evil."

Yes, I am a Christian.

The problem with your next question is that we may disagree with what it means to "act like" a Christian. I know Muslims and agnostics who are more Christlike than some of the Christians I know.

I am afraid we cannot stand together, at least not at this juncture in history. There is too much that separates us.

I am a Christian. I don't believe that Christians should be "in your face" announcing it to everyone. I think that is a huge turn off for people and makes non-Christians who are seeking a religion turn away from Christianity. I believe people should be able to know you are Christian from your actions not your words. I also believe that many of the people we see on TV and in the media (political figures, etc...), who so publicly announce they are Christian, oftentimes do and say very un-Christian things ... again, a big turn off for people seeking a religion. I also wish that all of my fellow Christians who so publicly announce their Christianity by placing a "fish" sticker on their car would either remove it or get help with their road rage ... it just seems so wrong to get flipped off by a "fish car." It saddens me to say this, but I believe Christians are turning people away from Christ faster than we are bringing people to Him. My bottom line is this: Christianity is about having a personal relationship with Christ ... not you and the rest of the Christians in the world ... not you and the Church ... not you and the Sunday School class ... just you and the Big Guy. It's as simple as that. Just my 2 Cents ...

I agree, but I feel so inconsistant. Like when people ask, I say I am Christian, and I am nice to others like Christians should be, but I'm also not a churchgoer like I used to be. Lately I've been having my doubts about the whole idea, but than other times it makes perfect sense. I feel like there's so much out there I'm not sure what to believe. But it is frusterating when you hear about Christian priests doing horrible things and such. So, I agree that we should all stand for what we believe in, but sometimes it's hard when you don't know for yourself what you believe in, you know?

"To admit to being a Christian one need to admit to belonging to a homologous club of people who all believe the same things". This is the sterotype of a Christian.

Here's why its wrong.
1) There are more than 4 ancient sects of Christianity all with slighly different perspectives. In modern parlance most churches derive from orthodox christianity. So what is a real christian when there is alot of variation. The answer to this is that there is many ways to skin a cat and lots of roads to rome.
2) There is being a christian according to scriputure, and then there is being a christian in spirit. Most modern christians don't really know how Jesus and the disciples lived (in commune's with no individual wealth, and in a modest manner).
3) Most Christians don't follow Jewish laws as Jesus promoted. Jewish traditions became unpopular after the fall of Jerusalem because Christians wished to distance themselves from roman persecution of the Jews. Hence modern christians have lost many aspects of their faith.
4) Modern Christians seem to believe that one can reach salvation by simply believing that Jesus martyred himself for everybody elses sins. This unholy belief is relatively modern and has its routes in the split between the prodestant church. The emphasis upon living a pious life for salvation (and seeking the knowledge of the scriputures daily) has been dumped by armchair christians.
5) There is a section of Christians that believe science and other branches of philosophy are at odds with theology. However, this is clearly nuts as God created the material world using very perfect science. Christians that believe logic and reason are somehow opposite to christian faith bring a bad name to the rest of the christian community.

I could think of more examples such as stereotypical view upon sexuality and women, but I've made the point well enough.
Instead of pidgeon holing myself as one thing or another, I simply consider my self as a seeker of enlightenment through the study of the scriptures and the company and association of others devoted to God. Like Bruce Lee said concerning martial arts. A punch is a punch, and a kick is a kick: It doesn't really mater what martial art you say that you study, if it doesn't work, its not a marital art. I use religion to chip away the rock that is my ignorance, to reveal the image of my true self. That is the ultimate goal of relgion and of life. I am learning to become devotee of Jesus (and hence God), but I am not a stereotypical christian. Its christianity that works for me. People should all strive to find what works for them and their perceptions, rather than to ascribe to a lemmings club of armchair christianity.

Yes- as much as I can. I try to encourage those I work with that claim they are Christians and look for ways to get the others to think about the seriousness of their rebellion. When tribulation comes the sheep and goats will be clearly defined.

Yes I let my light shine before all men, For he who denies the son denies the father and he who denies the son denies the father. Yes I am always a man of God at home and at work.
