He's been doing this for more than an hour. I keep thinking he's gonna hurt himself when he hits that light post but he lands on his but, shakes it off and repeats. The police keep telling me that he's the president, he can do it if he wants.

It is, but it's not "illegal" in the sense that you'd go before a judge and look at jail time. Like suicide, it's technically illegal, but if it's an unsuccessful suicide attempt, the point is to get help. Up to a certain age, people are not, as you put it "responsible for their own bodies." Even though the body is finished developing for the most part, the brain is not. I have a six year old, and it would be child abuse for me to let him make all his own decisions about his own body. He would have brownies for dinner and never have a bedtime. I know there's a big difference between six and sixteen, but there has to be a line drawn so that up to a certain point, decisions are made by a responsible adult, who has to pay the consequences if something goes wrong. If you don't think the government should have any interest in what a sixteen year old does with his or her own body, that kind of shows the lack of reasoning skills that guideline has been put in place for. They have a LOT of reasons to not allow teenagers to make that decision about their own bodies: 1. At one point, the attitude of law enforcement was that you couldn't even report a person missing until after they'd been gone 48 hours, on the assumption that they could very well have run away. Now that they realize if you don't FIND a person within 48 hours, they will not likely be found alive, an investigation begins immediately after a call is made to report a person missing. If someone just runs away, it's a sure thing a LOT of manpower and hours will be tied up on the part of the police department, when no crime has been committed. 2. There is not a way for a person under the age of sixteen to survive and thrive on their own legally. They can't get a job. They can't rent a home. The most common way they avoid the street is to move in with an older man, which is rape2 (statutory rape). The only means for survival involves crime of some sort, be it drugs, prostitution, rape2, theft, tresspassing, etc. 3. The government actually has something to gain from teenagers at least finishing high school and being in a healthy environment until they're of age. Things like healthcare coverage are not easy to come by if you don't have at least a mediocre job, and decent jobs are not easy to come by if you don't have at least a high school diploma. So what is likely to happen when you can't make enough to "make it" on your own? Welfare. Government housing. Government healthcare. I have no problem with people on welfare, but no, I don't think a teenager's right to do with their own bodies what they want is a fair reason to have more people on welfare than necessary. It's part of being a teenager. In the grand scheme of things, two or four years is not that long. Wait until it's legal and you stand a chance in the outside world.

Are you talking about George Washington, or W? If W, you have the initials wrong, so I can't help but think that is you running into the light post repeatedly.

If you are talking about George Wallace, Wallace was never President.
