You can Spay your Dog as early as 8 weeks old, yep this is a fact ask any VET.
I recommend doing it ,the sooner the better, It actually helps the pet population from 1 less litter of pups.
Also it will reduce cancer risk for your female pup, the sooner the better the reduction of risks for other female health issues too.
No, stray will still wonder around ,but if you have a good fence your Dog she be protected, make sure she has water and shade/shelter.

Unless your planning to breed a Dog I think All Dogs male or Female should be neutered or spayed....

Find a good vet in your area, ask others who have gone to the Vet how they liked him, if your in Phoenix I can give your some names... just email me...

When Dogs sniff pee and poop and other areas, the best way I can explain it is, they are reading the other Dogs "business card" each scent is different so your Pup is checking who stopped bye!

A great book to get is Cesar's Way or Dog Speak to learn more on how a "Pack" talks with unspoken signals....

"There are no bad Dogs only bad Owners"

Good Luck and Congratulations on your new Dog

She should be neutered now. Do not let the dog go into its first heat. Neutering is applicable to both a male and female dog but spay only applies to a female dog. If the dog is spayed before its first heat then the chances that the dog will develop mammary cancer later in life is reduced by 25%, that is significant. Of course this will keep male dogs out of your yard when they are only seeking a female in heat. Dogs have a great sense of smell and have a fair amount of brain cells devoted to this sense. Dogs can detect a smell about 40 times better than the human nose can A dog can determine so much just by smell. I have a good sense of smell and can often tell when my next door neighbor is outside and smoking. A dog can smell someone smoking a block away.

You should probably wait until she is six months toget her neutered. It is a good thing. She'll calm down a lot, and you won't be getting stray dogs in your yard, plus when she goes in heat she won't be bleeding all over. The price can range from 200 to 350. I got VPI Pet Insurance on my dog. Its like 28 dollars a month, and they reimburse you when you go the vet for a certain amount. It saves a lot of money - and they covered my whole bill for when I got my pup neutered (which was supposed to be 264.. I paid it, and then with the pet insurance I got all of my money back) It's definately well worth it, especially for a puppy.

When she's in heat her nipples and umm.. down there area, lol, will swell a lot and after a little while of that, she'll get something thats like a period and she'll start to drip blood. You can get sanitary pads and a little diaper (they sell them at the pet stores) for her, so this way if she goes into heat before you can get her neutered, she won't ruin your carpet or furniture. You should get her neutered before she has her first time going into heat, because if you do it while she's actually in heat, the price of it goes up, and if you do it after her chances of cancer also rise.

When she's sniffing another dogs pee she's just smelling whose been there before, seeing if they've marked the territory, etc. It's the same as when they smell each others butts:) lol It's not big deal.

Normally dogs get spayed/neutered at 6 months of age. The cost of this varies from vet to vet. You can look up to see if there is a low cost spay/neuter vet in your area. Im not sure if this will help keep other dogs out of your yard, but at least you know you wont end up with an "oops" litter. Also, when she is sniffing another dogs urine, usually shes just learning more about that. Good luck

First of all, males are neutered, females are spaid, but it probably would help keep stray dogs out of your yard, and I don't when they are in heat, but you should talk to your vet about this soon before an accident happens. And sniffing other dogs' pee is a way of finding out about the other dog. That's also why they sniff eachothers' butts.

around 6 months old before the hormones develope. Low cost spay/neuter clinic can do it for under $100 (females cost more to fix then males). As far as dogs coming in your yard- they are either after your female in heat or just friendly dogs that want to say hi. 6months to 1 year is the first heat cycle. She is sniffing other dogs pee to find out who they are.

First of all, if she's a female, she gets spayed-- male's get neutered=) I commend you for doing the responsible thing by spaying your dog, as it is what all loving owners do. At 5 months, she is old enough, so make an appointment any day now. It will cost approximately $300, and she'll be set for a longer, healthier life! And, yes, the male dogs will stop sniffing around after her.

Your dog is old enough to be spayed. Call around to the vets in your area to get a price as not all vets charge the same amount. If you already have a vet, you should take her there as he/she already has your pet's records on file.
Having your dog "fixed" will prevent an unwanted pregnancy and the problems of placing puppies in a society that already has an abundance of "opps" puppies in it. It will also help in keeping the males away from your yard.

im not sure when you should get your dog neutered, i would ask your vet. but you deifinetely should. there are thousands of strays out there, and by getting your pet neutered you will be preventing more puppies from dying or leading hard lives. dogs can learn tons of things about other dogs by smelling their pee. they can tell whether the dog is male or felame, when it was last there, and lots more. it's equivalent to us reading a note someone left us.

Yes it will keep any dog away from her if you get her spaid. If you are not going to breed her it's best that she does get spayed. It can cause serveral issues like that fake pregnancy type thing where they think they have had puppies already and cry when they dont find them. Not too sure of what it's called but she also wont bleed when she's in heat.
