The only reason a Christian would care is if an Atheist married a Christian. The Bible says not to be "unequally yoked" or married to someone who is not a Christian. I am surprized though that a pastor married two Atheists, as stated by an earlier responder.

Actually, believe it or not, marriage is secular, and always has been. People just felt the need to have it "blessed" by their church. What do you think people did before organized religion?
So even if Christians opposed Atheists getting married it wouldn't mean anything. They might as well pound sand.

Marriage is performed by the state and is a civil contract. The church does not have to play a role in marriage. You may be married in a church if that is you wish but ultimately the state must sanction it.

Atheists should have no civil rights and should be locked away in a box.
Is that what you expected? Why would Christians oppose the marriage of atheists?? In some cases it would be better for the spouses to have the same beliefs so they dont come into conflict once they have kids.

My wife and I got married in a wonderful outdoor wedding officiated over by a Judge who happened to be her father. Just for the record, he's a traffic court judge.
I will ring your doorbell and run away!!!

Well I got married in a church just because it was nicer than the JP's office. Both me and my wife are atheists and the pastor knew that. He didn't seem to care much.

I'm all for it as long as the ceremony isn't in a church. Marriage is a wonderful stabilizing force for society in general.
