There's a round, red sore on my hand about the size of a nickel. From what I've read, it might be ringworm, but the edges aren't as raised as I've seen in pictures.

What is it and how do I treat it?

It just appeared about two hours ago. At first it had a white edge, now it's just solid red. It's not hollow. Could it be an insect bite?

It itched when it first appeared. It hasn't for about an hour. I first noticed it when I was in the shower. Could the heat/steam have anything to do with it?

if it's perfectly round it's probably ring worm although it usually doesn't get that big unless it's been untreated for some time. if it's not really round could it be excema or a burn? does it hurt or itch?
