BMX as in the small ones where u do tricks with in the skate parks? no u cant takeit out on to the trails it will get wrecked pretty fast!! but the dirt jumping bikes should be limited to dirt jumping because that is what the bike is designed for if thake it on to the trails it will still work but will give horrible performance. as for free style u can take it out on to the trails but it will not be suitable for down hill rieing because the frame suspention, wheels and breaks are all desgined for different porpouses.

BMX Bikes are made for riding, and hard stuff, if it can withstand a 20 foot drop I'm pretty sure a nice ride in the park won't hurt it.

bmx and "dirt jumping bikes" are made for off road riding. a free style bike like a gt performer are sturdy bikes made to take a punishment but arent ideal for off roading.

You COULD, but it might actually be pretty hard. Aside from the gearing shortcomings, the 20 inch wheels will not handle uneven terrain and obstacles nearly as well as 26 inch wheels. I'm sure the bike would be fine. You just might not be :)
