Probably because they don't want you to dress inappropriate. Or if you wear uniform it is probably because they want you to represent your school. Also because if you get lost or kidnapped they can ask your parents or guardians to see what color your uniform is and they can find you easier. And finally because lot of kids there parents don't have lot of money to buy nice clothes like the other kids.

Many say the dress codes are anti-gang measures, and the rest admit that they are trying to make kids dress in a respectful manner, not run about half naked or with their drawers higher than their pants.

if people could wear whatever they want it could get offensive. and there is a higher crime rate of schools that dont have a dress code than the ones that do.

Because teenagers fail to dress in a manner that is appropriate not to distract either other students or teachers, especially when you are wearing a shirt for instance that reveals your breasts or pants that reveal your underwear. Less distraction, less room for speculation!

I have no idea. My school has it it and bugs me every day! Not only do we have to wear cloths we don't not want to wear and do not feel comfortable in, we also have certain requirements on how to do it. (ex. shirts tucked a certain way skirts a certain length.) Ugh it is horrible. Also the are just plain ugly colors that do not compliment anyone!! :(

Well i don't think we should have them. But i don't think u would want a kid coming to school in just their underwear or a shirt that had a list of all swear words known to man would you?

So the students focus on the subjects being taught instead of what others are wearing.

decency- you dont want kids walking around wearing ghetto crap or gang colors or anything else that shows no self respect do you?
