You are the one who has to live with it. Whatever color be sure you can stand it. Keep it happy.

Get curtains. No color can make the sunlight go away. Go get a double rod so you can hang 2 kinds of curtains. One sheer and another blackout. So if you want to just filter the sun and have a good light in the room use the sheer. If you want to totally block any heat and glare, then blackout should do.
Curtains also absorb heat so ask about the kind of cloth you'll be purchasing.

Well, this all depends on your preference, and your styles. I am what you might call "gothic" and my room is a deep red with black frames around the door and windows. I get a lot of light too, and my sheer black curtains and dark ((but not too dark)) walls help a lot.
So, go with whatever color you like, but don't make it too bright. Blinds are nice, but you might want some darker sheer curtains to help take some of the intensity of the sun out of your room.

Keep in mind that darker colors make the room appear smaller...and it would be good for you to go to Home Depot or Lowes and get some color samples...keep in mind the paper color sample will be a bit different then when you put it on the walls...

go with flat or satin paint. when u use semi gloss, especially with bold colors, it tends to "glow" which is never good. earth tones are in right now so if you go with any taupes or beiges u are safe but that isnt very 14 year old girlish. a light green or blue maybe. light red just looks like pink. at sherwin williams they have paint samples you can buy and take home and try out on your walls. do that to take the guess work out. good luck
