I'm thoroughly convinced that we would.

After browsing atheist web sites/forums and even questions asked on this web site, I realize today the utter hatred for God in so many people.

They are convinced they are arguing in the non-existence of God, yet they speak of him as though he were their worst enemy.

I don't argue that there are no unicorns in existence today, but if I was to argue, it wouldn't come with an implied hatred for unicorns or people that believed in them (this may sound silly to some but really give it some thought).

We surely would crucify Christ today. Christians, if you are hated: remember they hated Christ first before they hated you.

This is not about winning and argument; please, by all means tear my argument to shreds. If my words (God's words) touch one heart than this post was worth it.

Friends, let's keep an open mind. Do some research. Read His Word. Please, search for God, he is searching for you. =P

Grits, I can't help but agree with you 100 percent.

Many so called "Christians" today are using the message of the Gospel for their own personal gain.

I believe the judgment they will receive will be much greater than even the "worst" of sinners.

"Better a millstone be tied around your neck and you thrown into the sea than you lead these little ones astray"

Thank you for your response sir.

Fletcher: your post is riddled with hate and I believe also proves my point.

Diogenes: God is not humanity's worst enemy. Our great country of America's foundation is on Christian values. Our founding fathers prayed for our nation. Now, within the last 50 years or so, we see the steady decline of morals. God has been taken out of school and secularism has become a more widely accepted belief.

As for human suffering in the name of God: This only shows flawed, fallible humans and those that are Christian in name only.

People have also killed in the name of atheism. It's not religion or God but any school of thought (atheism included) that can be used to justify murder to a person or group of people.

If He were here on earth, the world would be ending and all those that hate Him because they don't believe in Him will recieve their just rewards (or punishments.)

After browsing Christian web sites/forums and even questions asked on this web site, I realize today the utter need for fallacious bull**** in so many people.

They are convinced they are arguing in the existence of God, yet they speak of him as though they had just hallucinated on some Jesus Juice and saw Jesus in their toaster.

I argue that there are no unicorns in existence today, but if I wasn't to argue, it would come with an implied hatred for unicorns or people that believed in them (this may not sound silly to some but really don't give it some thought).

We surely would crucify Christ today. Atheists, if you are hated: remember they hated Darwin first before they hated you.

This is not about losing and agreement; please, by all means don't tear my argument to shreds. If my words don't touch one heart than this post wasn't worth it.

Friends, let's keep a narrow mind. Do some research. Read His Word. Please, don't search for God, because he isn't there.

Perhaps, because today everyone believes different things and have their own take on their religions and faith. We have a lot more religions today than when Jesus was on earth, and at the time, the people who lived in Jerusalem and the other nearby towns etc all believed the same thing or similar rather than completely different things like society today. As time has passed, many people have changed their views and more things have been suggested, so I guess if Jesus came to earth today and people did not believe what he was saying and preaching, they could accuse him for forcing religion on them but I doubt very much that they would crucify him as crucificition very rarely exists and is illegal in most of the world in the 21st century.

You are wrong. Your arguments are not based in fact. If Jesus "came back", there would be no more atheists because it would disprove what we believe. Atheists do not believe in God so why would we want to crucify something we don't believe in. We don't hate God, we just don't like people who tell us that we're going to hell because we don't bow down and become mindless slaves who devote their lives entirely to pleasing their God. Furthermore, Christians represent the largest majority and are not persecuted. The only reason you want to delude yourself into believing otherwise is because it would fulfill some kind of prophecy. Guess what..the world isn't coming to an end for another few billion years, so get comfortable.

I'm pretty sure we would lock him in an insane assylum with the other 250 people who claimed to be God or Jesus that day. I also agree with the person who said they would never harm Jesus, only his followers, I have seen some people with a good head on their shoulders in these forums but I have seen some folks who remind me a lot of the Priests in Jesus's time, condemning what they know nothing about....condeming what they can't control and what proves them wrong. Oh and to the first person to reply...Atheos? The Athiest God? doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of being athiest?

Well, we don't crucify ANYONE anymore. I think he'd end up in a mental hospital. Nobody, least of all the Christians, would ever listen to him because he would preach peace and understanding, and that's just not what you guys seem to want to hear. (Bush is a Christian. Enough said.) Please understand that atheists don't hate Christ or Christians. I'm not crazy about hypocrisy and sanctimony, traits that too many Christians tend to exhibit. God is not "my worst enemy." I don't think god exists--it's neither my enemy or my friend--it's just not there at all. Why is this so difficult for you to understand? It's always the believers who throw the word "hate" around so freely, it seems to me.

No, I don't think he'd be crucified. I don't think people would believe him and he'd end up in a mental institution some where.
I personally don't hate Christians. My brother is a christian. My motto is 'Live and let live'. Just because we may not understand each other, doesn't mean that we can't all try and get along.
I think there are atheists that don't care for christians and I think there are christians that don't care for atheists as well. It's a two way street.

Until now, he is still crucified. People never let him be removed from the cross. They enjoy watching him there. Even the real kings of the world accept him to be the king of kings because he is not alive and he is not a threat to them.
Do not mind the atheists, they really do not hate God for how can they hate someone who does not exist? They hate the idea of people believing in the unseen. They also hate the idea of blind belief. You also have to open your mind to see if your faith is based on fear and constant guilt. God is true but you have to believe Him also that this world is in your hands to shape it into your desire and maintain it to protect the world from tyranny and destruction.

Catholic ( not sure about other religions of Christianity) theologians believe that the Second comming of christ will not be a physical one, but one of Judgement (e.g. on the third day he rose in fulliment of the scriptures he will come again to judge the living and the dead). In the book of Revalations it talks about the establishment of a new city of Jerusalem, and Jesus's judgement of humanity. The Theologians believe everyone will have a trial before the trinity where all will be revealed about that persons life.

You touched the truth and then backed away. The very idea of any god actually IS humanity's worst enemy. Look at the terrible history of human suffering in the name of various non-existent gods. Do you need more proof of the god-concept's evil influence than the entire recorded history of mankind?

In modern times hallucinating schizophrenics are institutionalized, given powerful anti-psychotics, and their brains are frequently blasted with bolts of electricity. Our psychiatric hospitals are filled to the brim with unfortunates who imagine they hear God's own voice. If Christ materialized in New York City, they'd throw his butt in Belleview and he'd never be heard of again.

Jesus declared himself to be the messiah (anointed one) of the judeans, the new king of the jews. rome had made illegal the judean monarchy so they dealt with him as they did other threats to their imperial ambition. genuine shame. assuming he would make the same claim today i doubt he would be crucified, though likely killed by some extremist religious factions. As for the purported hate of religious folk by atheists, it is in some cases true, ive read posts by some level headed atheists who said atheists dont hate things that they dont think exist because that is illogical. unfortunately people do illogical things. for example i am optimistic enough to thinks christian doctrine is against such evils as the inquisition yet it was carried out by christians. in both cases though, i for one do not think those people representative of the larger group.
