Cause I always say "good" when the grammatically correct word to use would be "fine"... does this bother people enough that I should switch to saying "fine"... what do you think? Or do you think I am just out of my mind and should shut up before I hurt myself?

I always say, "I'm good" also. I don't consider it incorrect grammar (although it is) but rather I consider it "slang".

"I'm fine" sounds too formal for every day. Perhaps at a posh dinner party, I might tilt my head and say, "I'm fine, thank you." or "Very well, thank you."

Otherwise, I'M GOOD is my preference!

Well, personally, I think it would be pedantic of someone to take issue with your grammar. I mean, everyone is so casual with language now days, especially when in conversation, so it's really not a big deal. Just say whatever you feel like saying, the grammar police aren't going to come and arrest you!

Are you from the south? I live in Atlanta, and "good" seems to be a common answer.

It doesn't bother me so much--sometimes I say it myself. Most of the time when someone asks, I say, "I'm well, thank you."

not me, the way i see it is if you've been saying it for a long time then it's going to stick with you, and then if you try to break out of saying it, but continue it's a subconcious thing, because of the long term use so then it slides out.

It doesn't bother me. I'd rather they say good then go on and on and on about all the things wrong with them.

Since the question is not supposed to be interpreted literally in the first place, it hardly matters how the answer is phrased.

I think, if we are being particular, that you feel neither good nor fine, but well.

You may be good.

You may be fine, in fact.

But you feel well.

It seems "good" is becoming a popular answer. Accept it.

LOL. No it doesn't bother me, but I usually say "I'm well, thanks," or "I'm happy today."

Sometimes I say, "I'm good!" in a joking referral to my own self-righteousness, lol.
