This is the first time i have ever baked a sweet potato, and I was wondering if the skins are ok to eat. Is it ok to cook them in the microwave?

Yes to both, great source of fiber. I agree they are better out of the oven. And don't worry, eating microwaved food will NOT give you cancer.
Just so folks no, there is NO radiation with a microwave, it's a radiowave frequency that excites water molecules and heats through friction.

They sure are, and there are many ways to cook a swee potato with the skin. I like them sliced and roasted with a little olive oil and crushed rosemary. I don't care for microwaved potatoes of any kind, and I like the skin a little firmer which is the way they come out when baked in the oven.

You bet they're eatable! They are not as tough as on a regular potato and are full of nutrients. Whereas regular potato skins can be poisonous if green, sweet potatoes are not nightshades (like a potato, tomato, or eggplant). They are totally eatable and have more vitamins than you can imagine!

Yes you can eat them. Before you cook them wash them thoroughly with a stiff brush to be sure you have removed all the debris. After baking them remove the insides and butter the skins add a little salt and pepper or brown sugar if you like and fold and eat YUMMY! And the insides can be eat also :)

Just give them a good scrub with a vegetable brush, and treat the same way as you wold irdinary potatoes.
In the oven, microwave, boiled, fried, roasted, peeled or unpeeled they are great.

Of course! After all, baked potatoes have their skins on most if not all of the time. Why wouldn't you be able to eat it?
