I think you need a well balanced diet. Fruits, vegies, and low carb. Don't cut out good carbs, only the bad like white bread, potatoes, etc etc. This, along with exercise, will bring your energy way up. Being that you are unable to get out of bed, and though dumb bells are great, I suggest getting an elastic resistance bands. This way, when you get used to the lower resistance, you can fold the band in half and increase the resistance. I have one that goes from 10 lb to 50 lbs of resistance (you can get them with less lbs if you need to.) Best wishes to you!

Usually it is best to eat fods that are high in protien such as chicken and not a lot of white carbohydrates. This way your body will burn the protien faster and then go to burn the body fat next when it is looking for energy.

basically what gives body energy is complex carbs e.g. old fashioned oatmeal, whole wheat bread, fruit. that's what you should have for breakfast.
and for dinner protein is good - it repairs muscle (lean meat, soy products, cottage cheese)
