Well the most obvious answer to me would seem to be that he rode in on a 3 legged llama named Friday. He traded the llama to a 3 legged llama collector (never trust those guys by the way) for a 5 legged giant hog named Notfriday 3 days later. He changed the hogs name to Friday. Then he rode home on Friday the hog. Eventually he cooked and ate Friday the hog...poor Friday.

He starts the ride on Friday, it takes 4 days to arrive at the destination. stays at destination until he leaves the following Friday.

friday is the name of the thing (horse, mule, etc.) that he rides on... he goes on tuesday and after three days, it is friday.
