Yes, you are right: most people think it is dumb to throw crap onto the track. The people that throw crap on the track are too cowardly to admit that they did it. Some of them are probably on Yahoo Answers decrying the louts who DID do it.

I am NOT a Gordon fan by any means (can't stand him), but it is ridiculous for so-called 'fans' to throw stuff onto the track. They arrested 11 people, but I know there was more than that throwing stuff! Also, those 11 have been banned from ever purchasing a ticket at Talladega.

Dumb is an understatement.
These are subhuman scumsuckers that call themselves Dale Earnhardt Jr. "fans".
They are not "fans" of Dale Earnhardt Jr. but stinking swine who give NASCAR a bad name, give Dale Earnhardt Jr. a bad name, and degrade the sport when it is trying to go more mainstream.
What Dale Earnhrdt Jr. should do is hold a press conference and denounce these pigs and ask them to put an end to their disrespect of other drivers and the sport, or to walk away and leave the sport entirely. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is partially to blame until he holds a massive press conference to denounce these scumbags.
NASCAR will eventually be sued, possibly class action, by injured people at a racetrack and the lawyers will claim that NASCAR and the track had ample opportunity to put an end to the danger posed by these scumsuckers. The lawyers will show film of the NBA and MLB and other major sports preventing people from bringing projectiles into the arenas, and then show film of Earnhardt pigs bringing beer cans into the racetrack and throwing them.
Once NASCAR is sued for $100 million or so and effectively has to shut the sport down, we can all then say "I told you so" and wonder why the Earnhardt pigs were allowed to continue to roll in the slop at the racetracks.

It is dumb and no class to throw things on the track. If the people that throw things aren't on this site it's probably because they're busy drinking beer, messing with their sister, and telling stories about how they almost hit the 24 car at Talladega. Yee haw

Yea you won't see that at Richmond... Seriously though, out of the 100,000 plus people that were at the track, how many were actually throwing things?? Prob. like 1% or less... Its up to the rest of the folk to police themselves and put a stop to the idiots that are ruining this great sport

I think if you pay an outrageous price for a race ticket that you've waited all year to see,you should be able to show your displeasure and throw anythink at Jeff Gordon. Nascar says they disaprove but you know they love the ratings it creates!
