A decent guesstimate for the worldwide prevalence of eating disorders is about 70 million.

Read the Vanderbilt study (referenced below) for more detailed info on the prevalence stats for EDs.

1-3% of the population have diagnosed eating disorders. However, not all eating disorders are recognized as a problem, so the prevalance of people with eating disorders is much higher. Unlike gambling or psychosis, eating disorders do not always causes a great deal of distress or problems in one's functioning. Really, only the profound cases usually seek treatment, or are even recognized by most experts.

In other areas of the world, I would think that it would be called "Malnourishment, or starvation" and, it's not because it's an "eating disorder", it's because of a genuine lack of food available.
