What is the difference between a chef, sous-chef, and a cook?

A cook is someone who is a good cook who has not had formal training. A chef is someone who has been to culinary school and cooks in a restaurant and a sous-chef is an assistant or a helper for the chef.

Anyone can be a cook. A cook is someone who cooks in a kigtchen like T.G.I. Friday's or Ruby Tuesday's. To be a real chef you need years of training and expierience. Sous-chef is practiaclly a head chefs right hand man (or lady) they have big responsibilities in the kitchen, but answer to the head chef or Executive chef.

A cook can be anyone. A sous chef is the person under the chef who also oversees the line cooks. The chef is the one with the actual degree and in charge over everyone. But he or she will delegate that to the sous chef.

cook is what is in a dinner, a sous-chef dose prep work in a restaurant and a chef is in a restaurant

cooks are usually fry cook style, like a diner
prep chefs chop and clean up
some chefs own restaurants
chefs create for the more exquisite tastes
