With enough time and money any car can be converted to four wheel drive... Ford will make it better than most (this is experience talking).... but it will probably not be worth it unless you can get the parts for a steal, and you don't mind hours upon hours of labour.... The first answer has pretty accurate quotes on price/time

I would trade it in like the others said, Trust me it is too much work. I know because my buddy had a two wheel drive truck and made it a 4x4 but you get into transfer cases and everything and his was a straight axle it is much harder to do it on an IFS (independent front suspension).

Sure would be a lot cheaper to trade it in on a 4 wheeler. Just way too many parts to change out. good luck.

from what I understand, ford did not diferentiate the frames on the ranger 2wd & 4wd, meaning you CAN bolt a stock 4wd setup right to the existing holes. couldn't tell you the cost
