It doesn't. African Americans arent immigrants. Not in today's context. Africans were brought here in the 1600s. That has nothing to do with immigrants today. African Americans are Americans. When we are talking about immigrants we mean people who literally left a country and moved to another. If you were born here you are not an immigrant. Yes you ancestors hundreds of years ago were immigrants, but you are not. If your mother, father, grandparents, great grandparents, great great grandparents and so on were Americans, you are not considered an immigrant.

The African side was not here willingly so they were not immigrants. The American Indian side was immigrant however. First off, even if they were the first people on America, they pushed animals off, and they pushed trees off, etc. Secondly, many American Indians exterminated other American Indian tribes. For example, the Navajo devastated the Hopi and the Anasazi.

Well, if you want to be absolutely technical and have no time barriers on the subject, then yes you are a descent of immigrants. Native Americans were immigrants from Asia who crossed over the Bearing Strait. You were born in America so that really makes you American.

Yes, it does. Though Native Americans are considered First Nation residents here, they did enter the American continent from Asia. If you're African American on the other side, you are still a descendant of an immigrant--albeit an unwilling one. Basically everyone here is a descendent of an immigrant--it's nothing to be ashamed of.
