I was hurt in an accident and had a brain injury. When I came out of it and got my brain back I found out I had not paid taxes on income for 6 years. The IRS says I have to pay it and pay the interest and pay the fines. I AREE I need to pay the money. I was making money, just too stupid due to head injury to know to pay taxes.
My question is I am 43 years old and with what I can make it would take me 70 years to pay all the fines, back taxes with interest. They took everything I had and I live in poverty and while I make a good living it all goes to the IRS except for $700 a month to pay for food and housing.
Should I just Kill Myself becaue I will never have a life. If I make more money they said they will take more money out of my paycheck. I have been told I can not stop working becasue if I miss payments then I go to jail.
Should I just Kill myself? Would You? Be honest. I don't want pep talks, just real honest answers under the facts as they are now.

Looking for a good movie script theme. I thought the Tax thing would work but now I see it is not good enough. Thank You for your thoughts. Someone killing themselves over taxes is not something people would see as good enough reason.

You NEED an advocate for the IRS gig.
You CAN negotiate the amount owed.
Besides wouldn't you have a big deductible for medical somewhere in there?
As far as killing yourself, that solves nothing. Why substitute the unknowable future of living with the ultimate solution?
If you think you're not getting ahead of things now ... killing yourself guarantees you nothing.
ADDITIONAL:
So you were punking us? That wasn't very nice. Now I HOPE you get Audited.

First and foremost, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Get with a good tax expert that has a proven track record on OIC (Offer in Compromise).
This is not the end of the world for you--despite how bleak you might think it is for you. If you miss a payment, the IRS never takes you to jail---those days are long gone! If they are currently taking out all your money except $700, I know they are supposed to leave enough where you have a decent means for living. I do not know which part of the USA you are in, because $700 does not get you far over where I am.
Best of luck to you and your situation. Get a publicist and sell the script of your life.

You should not panic. First of all you need to be current on all your filings, once you are current, you can do what is called an offer in compromise (OIC), this offer is a package which IRS will look and see how much you earn, your assets, expenses, be sure to attach your paystubs, proof of all your bills and make sure it's the last 3 months. you can make an offer for example lets say you owe 50,000 then you can make an offer to pay 15,000 and if they accept it you will only pay whatever you offer and rest is forgiven, but you need to file all your future tax for the next 5 years on time and full pay them by april 15, or the offer in compromise will fall and you'll go back to the original balances.
Another thing you can do is complete F843, abatement of penalties, send in proof that you were injured and penalties can be removed, but not interest.

IF you owe enough in taxes that is would take you 70 years to pay, you are a textbook case of what an "Offer in Compromise" is for. That said, I find it IMPOSSIBLE to believe anyone could earn enough to owe that amount in only 6 years. If you were suffering from a head injury that prevented you from knowing you had to pay taxes, there is no way you could make anywhere near that amount.
BTW, where can you pay for food AND housing on $700 a month?

There is nothing more precious then your life! Tell yourself that atleast you've got a job to keep your mind off unhappy thoughts. Be positive. You'll never know someday you may be blessed with monies to pay off what is owed and is free from debts. Having no money is not the end of the world. Think of others who don't even know if there'll be foods on the table for their next meal. Cheer-up!

No, I would not kill myself. I would find the best, most experienced, most recommended law firm that specializes in tax law and let them fight for me. I would give them the ok to broker a settlement with the IRS, if that is possible at this point, or take the case to a Federal court. I would never, ever fight with the IRS without an experienced attorney. Killing yourself does no good, except it may saddle your heirs with your debts.

If ever I've seen a case ripe for an Offer in Compromise, yours sounds like it.
I wouldn't kill myself, or work for nothing. But I would seek out a competent CPA with some OIC experience.

If we should kill ourselves for being "enslaved" to the IRS, then we'd all be gone except for the illegals.
Most of the time, they'll settle for a lesser amount. Try talking to a tax attorney.

Contact the Taxpayer Advocate's Office and visit with them about an "Offer In Compromise" which may be the best was to put the whole matter behind you. They should be listed in your local directory or you can go to IRS.GOV and seek particulars.
