OK I found out that its possibly a Czech 98 Mauser Copy. Its bolt action. The guy that looked at it said its a really nice piece. The scope itself he said is worth about 50. The gun he wasn't sure of he is gonna call me tomorrow after he looks it up. He said there is NO opening on the bottom which is a good thing but I don't know why. He said the wood working is very nice nice cause its engraved with like feather patterns. Can someone give me a possible figure of what its worth?

My guess is $150-200 but depends on the condition. Try checking eBay. Seems like a very specific model though.

As the others have said, modified guns lose value most of the time, you can do a search of auctions that actually sold the gun to get an estimated value. However, at one point in time Colombians made a Mauser in 30-06, so see what kind of markings are on the receiver and barrel. This might be able to help you find out the country of origin, date of manufacture, and possibly other things also.

Military rifles that have been modified into hunting rifles....called "Sporterized" are very, very hard to value.

You see, lots of these rifles came home with G.I.s after WWII and many tens of thousands more in the susequent decades. Today, we are getting a lot of these rifles from the old Communist countries cheap.

So, some "Sporters" were done by very highly-skilled professional gunsmiths and some were done by a guy called "Bubba" in his garage!

There is a huge range of quality of work, barrel replacements, stocks and scope mounting. All these things factor into value, and since you could have anything, it's hard to even take a stab at value without close examination of the rifle and scope or at least some detailed pictures.

This rifle could be anywhere from $200 to $1200. That's a wild, wild guess...

Depending on condition it could be worth anywhere between $200 and $400. The better condition the higher the price the rifle will bring. Being a Czech copy decreases the value in comparison to an original.

It depends on a lot of things. Figure around 1000 dollars.
