I know I already asked this but I thought I would get some different opinions. I'm going on a plane tomorrow and I am terrified. This is my first time in the air. Is there anything I can do other than pills or alcohol to help me. Please!

I don't know if it is still available but look for a book called The Fearless Fliers Handbook by Debbie Seaman published by Ten Speed Press in 1998. Debbie wrote the book after successfully completing a Fear of Flying Course in Australia. She got all the people involved in the course ro contribute a chapter on their area of expertise.

There is really nothing to worry about. Relax. Breathe slowly and enjoy the flight - millions of people do so every day. Don't rely on pills or alcohol. For a start if you have too much alcohol aboard, they won't let you on board.

If, after your first flight, you are still scared to fly, take a Fear of Flying Course, they work. Do not watch the film "Turbulence II" (or Turbulence for that matter). It is absolute rubbish as far as fear-of-flying is concerned, courses are nothing like that.

look at different people on the plane. that always keeps my mind off of being in the air. also long flight planes have dvd players you can rent for the flight. i always pay attention to the movie instead of being in the air.

dont be a puss. What are you afraid of? dying? I am sure you have heard before that flying is more safe than driving...You are more likely to get injured in a car accident on the way to the airport then for your plane to crash. so if you are afraid of anything - be afraid of the car ride.

sucking on the end of burned match sticks really calms me down when I'm flying.
