I believe many people dislike certain foods because of the way the food is cooked.
Sometimes the same food cooked differently will be nicer.
In my case I hated Broad Beans that my mother cooked as they were boiled for ages and the skins were all leather.
I found by adding beans to boiling water, cover and brought back to the boil, then simmered for 5 minutes the are quite nice.
They are even nicer, if you can be bothered, with the skin removed as they are in many Mediterranean areas.

I don't have any scientific proof, but I know when I was younger, I used to hate tomatoes. I don't know why, I just hated them. The taste, the smell, I'd cringe. Now, I love them. I always hated them from when I was introduced into solid foods, until I was older, around 10, and then I started to like them. I'm sure your taste buds change as you get older, and you may think differently and be open to trying new things.

Yes, it happens all the time. You may not like an unfamiliar food at first but you can develop a taste for it. Guacamole has an unusual taste and texture that you may hate at first and then love, for example.

Depends. A lot of foods are acquired tastes. For me things like whiskey and gallo pinto started off with me hating them, then evolved into me loving them.
Onions however have born the brunt of my hatred for the past 21 years and that will assuredly never change.

Yes. The human palette changes over time, and if you smoke, drink, whatever. I hated cooked spinach as a kid and now I love it. I love strawberries as a kid and now I hate them. The palette changes.
You can train yourself to like foods you don't think you like. I trained myself to like black olives for instance. It depends on how they're prepared so your brain doesn't think "I'm eating black olives I have to like them!" Try different foods different ways and it may just turn out you never had them prepared right in the first place!

I think our taste buds change. I will now eat tomato soup, not as a kid. I will never like liver&onions. therefore, NO we can't learn
but if hungry enough most anything tastes good

Probably not if you just get over exposed to it, but almost everything tastes good if you cook it well enough (or have a decent chef do it for you)

You are not guaranteed to like the food, however it is more likely that you will get a taste for it after a long exposure to it. =]

yes totally, I used to hate onion soup now I love it.
I got used to it and learned to appreciate it because we had it only on Christmas eve
same thing for wine: I only drank wine because it smelled good and now I love it.
