The vet can't find anything wrong with her. Ran multiple blood tests and nothing is wrong. She's losing up to 1/2 pound every 3 days. She's skin and bones. She eats like a horse. We ran a thyroid test and she's fine there. The vets are at a loss and she's so weak now, we're considering putting her down. I'm hoping someone out there has experienced this and can help. I know I'm reaching here, but someone please help if you can.

We don't make her eat, she eats on her own. Alot more than she used to as a matter of fact. Please, if anyone knows an IDEA of what may be going on please let me know. We can get an appointment with a specialist but that will take 3 weeks, and she's not going to make it that long. Please please please, I'm begging here.

It's not kidney failure, all of her organs are functioning normally according to her bloodwork. It's not the cat food, but thank you.

As a matter of fact, her thyroid test WAS borderline, so we ran a more extensive test. Which proved that her thyroid was fine. Thank you for the suggestion though!

Also, she eats canned food now plus dry, it's not a tooth problem, we literally watch her eat. Plus she just had a dental last year, when she was healthy.

Have you tried enticing her with canned foods?
She may be so weak she's not able to burn the energy to eat dry food.
Change her foods and see if that helps.

We had a cat that went to a new owner and he fed her cheap dry food. She lost all her weight and we took her back. Fed her a better food and she's back up to normal weight.

I'm Sorry, It Seems Like She's Dying From Something Incurable, If She's Weak And Just Skin And Bones, And Ten Years Is Us To The Age Of Being Old For The Cat, At Least In Her Health Condition, She Seems To Be Suffering And If You Really Do Love Her, You Will End Her Suffering Now.

The Best Way To Go About It Is To Have Someone Else Take Her To Do It, And Have The Person Bury Her Away From Your Sight, After You Say Your Goodbyes While She Is Still Alive. Because Seeing How She Is, Then Seeing Her Dead Will Haunt Your Memories For A Very Long Time.

Sounds just like what happened with my 10 year old cat Sweetpea.
She was skin & bones. Drank constantly, peed constantly and ate everything.
My vet was a moron who did the same thing, kept saying it might be her thyroid and they will probably need to do surgery or put her down.
Thank god we asked a second vet, because he ran more test & found that my kitty actually had Diabities. Yes cats get Diabities, crazy right?
Shes doing great now. After loads of money spent on tests, we now give her 2 shots daily, one in the morning one at night.
I cant do it because of my fear of needles, but my step dad lays a few treats on the floor, and gives her a shot while shes distracted by food.
She never notices, and its actually very easy to do.
You have to alternate sides to prevent soreness.
But shes put all the weight back on, doesent pee as much as she use to (good thing), and does not drink as many fluids as she use to.
I would say go to your vet and ask it it could be Diabities, ask if there are test that can be done.

Its really hard to watch your baby go through it, but if it is the same thing, she'll do great.

Good luck!

I'm sorry, but as these answers are proving, if the vet can't find anything wrong no one on here will be able to suggest anything.

Make that appointment with the specialist. Also consider trying another vet - they can look over all your cat's clinical history and maybe they can think of something that hasn't already been tried.

This sounds like a REALLY weird case - I haven't yet heard of a cat this ill that they literally can't find anything wrong with.

All we can do is wish you good luck and best wishes,

Chalice

There are three main ways to lose weight quickly.

1) Use only water as liquid and eliminate all other liquid drinks from your diet. You must drink as much water as possible every day. You must drink about half of your weight. If you have weight of 200 pounds then you must drink about 100 oz of water.

2) The interval between the eating is very important. If you eat once, then you must eat next after 4 hours. You must take breakfast regularly. In the night eat your food three hours before going to bed.

3) Walking is very good. You must walk as much as you can. Walk everywhere you can. Use of elevators and escalators must be reduced and instead of these you must climb stairs more often.

These are some of the fastest ways to lose weight. By just following the simple steps, you can lose your weight very quickly. You must consult your doctor if want to change your diet or exercise routine.

That is what happened to my 14 year old cat, her 13 year old daughter 6 months later, and my parents 12 year old cat.

I took the oldest to the vet numerous times, and finally they just said that her body is failing, and she will die. I am sorry to tell you bad news, and hope that in your case I am wrong.

It broke my heart, but she didn't have any specifically painful symptoms, so I never put her to sleep. She said her goodbyes then went and died in the bathroom cabinet.

One thing I DO think that you should look into, is the brand of catfood you used, since everyones animals are dying from the food, and catfood has also been poisoned.

Because both my cats died so close together in time, looking back on that, I think it could have been another catfood problem gone awry.

Just a hint...if you want to try to get your cat to eat, try babyfood meats..whatever you can find. I recommended that to my parents cat, and used it on my own, and they ate it up.

Does she have a tooth problem? They won't chew if their teeth hurt. Poor thing.

Good luck.

No secret.

For weight loss exercise such as swimming, running, cycling and even walking can help but dieting can often help a lot more than exercise.

A very good and healthy weight loss diet is the DASH diet that can also help to reduce high cholesterol and high BP.

The DASH diet includes a lot of fruit and vegetables combined with whole grains and cereals plus low fat dairy products such as low fat cheese, milk and yogurt as well as lean meats.

Good serials are Weetbix, oatmeal, oatbran, wheat bran and wheat germ.

Hi there I know this is a very nasty thing to happen and i would say cat aids, but you have had tests done. 10 is a very young age for a cat my partners last one died at the grand age of 23.
As for your little furry friend my cat goes off her food every summer now she is older she is coming on 12, i have taken her to the vets lots thinking this is going to be it as she gets lazy and wees where she is sitting but then stops in the summer. Have you tried feeding her tuna ? and giving her milk ? does she have something she likes to eat like ham? anything is worth giving her ago just to see if she is being fussy or it may be the weather is she still drinking?
good luck and i hope she gets better soon.

Was her thyroid test borderline? Sometimes a cat with borderline thyroid values can still be functionally hyperthyroid - talk to your vet about it.

You may want to try to find a feline specialist: If you live in the US, you can click the 'find an AAFP doctor' button at the top of this page to find a specialist: http://www.aafponline.org/

Sending best wishes for your cat!
