Remove Freon ,Safely , Remove lines and then compressor, Install new compressor hook up lined ,Have it evacuated and charged , You should be OK , Make sure you use a Certified mechanic to charge Good luck stay cool

Be careful, my '87 F-150 AC compressor was one of a limited number, that when they failed, they sent small plastic part downstream into the condenser and orifice tube. These other parts had to be replaced. The part supplier will have a list of the serial numbers involved.
