Yes, Al Gore himself has admitted he thinks there is nothing wrong with exaggerating the effects of global warming if it gets people to take action. Gore claims for example, that global warming will cause sea levels to rise up to 20 feet by the end of the century. According to the IPCC report from the UN, by the end of the century if global warming continues at the current rate, the sea levels could rise 9-23 inches. The report says a sea level rise of 20 feet would take over 600 years to occur.

It needs to be dealt with now. If we leave it any longer it will be too late. We are seeing the repercussions now that happened over the last 100 years. These things really started during the industrial revolution. We need to figure it out before its too late. Australia is in the biggest drought ever, and has not much water left. If that's not a big problem, then what is? The changing weather patterns, rising sea water level, the lack of habitat is all contributing to problems caused by global warming which is caused by humans putting their heads in the sand and saying "leave it to the next generaton".

I suppose it depends on who you are listening to. There is one source of information that I believe you can trust implicitly: The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (UN IPCC), which is basically a panel comprising the best experts in the world on this subject. I believe the panel can be trusted.
As for other sources, the message that Al Gore is sending is BASED ON the science provided by the IPCC, but they are not one and the same.
There are many other sources that are giving advice BASED ON what Al Gore has said.
Each time someone claims scientific facts are based on someone higher up the chain of evidence, the message is slightly corrupted, and this chain of corruption continues into eternity, which is why there are people claiming that climate change is all a hoax, BASED ON something someone said that was based on something someone else said, that was based on something someone else said, that was based on something someone else said, that was based on what Al Gore said, or what the IPCC said. And you might say "How? The two messages are completely contradictory to each other aren't they?"
Misinterpretation is how. The same thing has happened to The Bible, The Dictionary, even time itself. Everything is subject to interpretation.
Therefore I tell you, if you want facts, ask the people who are actually going out and collecting and reading ice cores, and the people who are observing the melting of the polar ice caps, and the people who have spent decades recording atmospheric temperatures, and the people who are calculating the volume of permafrost methane and carbon deposits, and the mathematicians who determine the predictability of feedback loops, and the oceanographers who measure the average speed of the thermohaline circulation ocean conveyor. These people are the ones who comprise the IPCC, and deserve to be heard.
Also, it needs to be recognised that there is not 1 single experienced or qualified person in the field of climatology that contests that global warming and climate change are happening right now, with observable effects happening right now. In addition, there is only a small handful of scientists from ANY field that contest this. Many of them hold qualifications in fields like biology (the study of anatomy), or electrical engineering, and almost every one of the people on this short list is receiving financial remuneration from a corporate, religious or political influence who has a vested interest in keeping people doubting that climate change is a reality. The sorts of vested interests that would have a detrimental effect on their ability to run their business the way they have been for decades, car manufacturers, light globe manufacturers and water heater manufacturers, to name a few.
The confusing thing for me though, is that so many people are afraid of this change, like it will dramatically reduce their standard of living if they accept that the life of others and the planet itself is just aas important to them as their own. The fact is that this should motivate us to cooperate more effectively, share with each other more often and with more valuable things, and increase our contextual field to include more than just our immediate family and friends, but everyone in your vicinity at all times, in every minute of every day. If you see someone drop their cigarette butt, demand they pick it up and put it in the bin, for the benefit of everyone. After a while of confronting people about becoming more considerate for other peoples' welfare and health, you will have begun to grow an awareness of the conscience inherrently built inside of you, that you've been ignoring all these years. Then you can start teaching other people to become more aware of their conscience, by teaching them to confront others, including you, to improve their inconsiderate habits. Everyone wins. To do anything else would be a short term win on your part (maybe), followed by a long term loss.
Finally, think about this: Hypothetically speaking, if climate change is all just a hoax, and you do decide to be more aware of you conscience, and help some other people to be more conscientious, and make your environment a little cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing, and a few life forms get to live in the process, and you feel a bit happier and healthier, and the other people in your life have more respect for you, then is such a hoax a bad thing or a good thing?
And yet I tell you ... NO SUCH HOAX HAS BEEN PERPETRATED. CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL, IT'S HERE NOW, AND IT'S GOING TO CHANGE EVERYTHING.

When are we going to get it? When its too late, maybe?
Lets hope not! Global warming is definately NOT being exaggerated!!! Come on, do your own research, empower yourself. Mountains where snow resided, are now becoming a thing of the past, the level of seas are rising and are noticeable when storms break out and seas lash through once secure little towns and villages.....the ice in the antarctica and etc is melting at a dramatic rate, polar bears lost in a sea of broken ice, as they try to find a way back home. Droughts, lack of water, the planet is hotting up!
Unfortunately, its a known fact, we as humans prefer to pull the blind down on truth....and why? simply because it happens to be INCONVENIENT to our way of life, our way of thinking, and we bask in the unrealistic presumption, that everybody else will find a way out for us, and we fail to use common sense and to act with speed and urgency....and you know what? The "Everybody else," are all waiting for all the others to act. we live in a crazy world, and we EACH need to take responsibility and DO something about it, and not waith for the Governments to shoulder all the load.

No. Forget Al Gore. He has nothing to do with the science or the data.
This is science and what counts is the data.
"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”
Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)
Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut and the first Commander of the Naval Space Command
Here are two summaries of the mountain of data that convinced Admiral Truly, short and long.
http://www.globalwarmingart.com/wiki/Image:Climate_Change_Attribution.png
http://www.ipcc.ch/SPM2feb07.pdf
It's (mostly) not the sun:
http://www.stopglobalwarming.org/sgw_actionitems.asp
And the first graph aboves shows that the sun is responsible for about 10% of it. When someone says it's the sun they're saying that thousands of climatologists are stupid and don't look at the solar data. That's ridiculous.
Science is quite good about exposing bad science or hoaxes:
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/ATG/polywater.html
There's a large number of people who agree that it is real and mostly caused by us, who are not liberals, environmentalists, stupid, or conceivably part of a "conspiracy". Just three examples of many:
"Global warming is real, now, and it must be addressed."
Lee Scott, CEO, Wal-Mart
"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."
Senator John McCain, Republican, Arizona
“DuPont believes that action is warranted, not further debate."
Charles O. Holliday, Jr., CEO, DuPont
There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:
http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/articles/home_page/329.php?nid=&id=&pnt=329&lb=hmpg1
And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/306/5702/1686 and:
"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know - except maybe Newton's second law of dynamics. Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point,You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."
Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

yes. i hate that people think just because al gore has started a global warming issue that it's a new 'threat', when in fact it's been known for about twenty years (do some research). if we do absolutely nothing at all, it is not being dramatized at all. do you think that the past few years strange weather is nothing? (i.e the huge increase in hurricanes and tidal waves) but if people slowly but surly do little things like buy those new light bulbs, walk instead of driving three block, the time frame will lessen for sure, it's just getting people to stop being so lazy a do little daily things that make a huge impact

It depends on who you talk to. Personally, I think it is the earth goes through natural cycles in which the temperature rises or falls and this very well could be just that. Also, the earth is so huge I think it's a little arrogant of humans to think that in such a short period of time we could have affected the earth in such a huge way. In any case, even if it is true the effects won't be apparent any time in this millennium.

A lot of people do "over exaggerate" global warming. But the truth is it may be coming, for real. I mean polar bears are dieing. We went from having 40 degree weather to 80 degree weather in two-three days. One of my friends Laura Baran Doesn't believe in it AT ALL!!!! She says it is global cooling, but that would bring us in to an ice age. if you believe in global warming don't let anyone stop you trust me it is coming. but hey don't get me wrong,............. it might be gone soon if we would stop pollution.

I think that we are experiencing global climate change. And, that the affects of this will be severe. The ecology of the earth would be affected. As well as human civilization. Do you realize that even if 5% of people are affected be something like food shortages, that you could lose hundreds of millions of people.
