i just got a new tattoo around my ankle pretty low(hurt like hell) more than any of my other tats)) but it is super swollen. is this normal? my leg swelled pretty bad after a tattoo once but it was a seven hour session so i expected it but this is even worse and it only took about two hours.

Swelling around an ankle is very common. People have a tendency to forget to go home and put their feet up after getting tattooed. They get excited and want to go show it off. Sit down and read or watch a little TV. It will be fine. If there is actually pain, put a zip-bag of ice in a towel, and prop your foot up on it. Give your body a chance to re-coop.

i have had my entire ankle tatted and then it goes down the top of my foot and onto my middle toe.... i was tatted for over 5 hours doing it... and my ankle foot or toe did not swell... at all..... so personally i think that there is something wrong... it doesnt seem to me that ur ankle should be swollen like that... i also have a picture on my other ankle that i had done 7 years ago and actually that one didnt swell either... i am thinking that something is wrong and u might need it looked at... good luck

The ankle is a funny place and doesn't react like other tattoo locations so swelling is common and reacting differently to tattoo at different times is not unusual either. For peace of mind, go see your tattoo artist and address your concerns with him/her.

How long ago did you get this tattoo? I've never swollen up more than like 1/2 an inch, but it might just depend on your body. but if you're really concerned about it i would call the tattoo place!

yes swelling is totally normal. your ankle is far away from your heart so your circulation isn't as good there. you need to keep your leg elevated as much as possible for the next couple of days to help it heal more quickly.

wow you need to see a doctor. i got one once that swelled up bad and i found out i had an allergy to that kind of ink. so i'd see a doc if i were you.

Sorry but what were u thinking? I think it should be swollen for a day or so on so forth!
