To my knowledge, Catholics were never not allowed to read the Bible. The Church approved the first english addition of the scriptures in the 16th century; it was the Duhay-Rheims version. Additionally, it's not that people were restricted from reading the scriptures in that the majority of the population couldn't read to begin with. Mass education didn't exist back then like it does today. So, with an illiterate population unable to read the sacred word themselves, the Church devised other ways to teach the Gospel, like with stained glass windows, sculptures, paintings, and other artwork. It's why many modern churches today are still adorned with such holy decorative work. It was another method of teaching the scriptures. God bless.

Ebonics is NOT a language. It's an excuse for people to use poor grammar and sound uneducated. Don't try and say I'm racist either Oprah agrees with me so does every well educated African American person I know.

It's been done. The website no longer exists though unfortunately.
I've also seen a complete translation to Klingon.
The group that translated it to Klingon also attempted to translate it to Vulcan. Unfortunately, the translation lost a lot. Translated back to English from Vulcan, the entire document was merely, "This is a book of illogical falsehoods unworthy of note."
