What it says about the life of Jesus does not match with the story told in the accepted four gospels.

"The Gospel of Barnabas is an apocryphal gospel. That is, it is a life of Jesus purportedly written by a first-hand observer that is at variance with the picture(s) presented in the Bible. However, it is unique among apocrypha in that it is a Muslim gospel; that is, it presents Jesus as a human prophet, not the son of God, and as a forerunner of Muhammad. According to western scholarship, it is a fourteenth-century forgery, extant now only in Spanish and Italian manuscripts, but even among scholars there is disagreement as to whether or not some some of the material contained in the book is older. The Gospel has been picked up by some modern Muslims, though, as an authentic and ancient record of events, and there are many different printed versions available from various Muslim publishing houses, all based heavily on the version by the Raggs presented here. It must be stressed, however, that belief in this Gospel is in no way an article of Islamic faith, and this site is not the place to discuss either the authenticity of the book or how widespread belief in or even knowledge of it is in the Islamic world."

Any Gospel that was not found to be the inspired word of God did not make it in the bible.

There are thousands of ancient writings, many have nothing to do with Religion, some are heresy's just because the Bible does not have every written word in it that would make it 50 times larger and have no value, does not make what IS in the bible wrong or mean that it has been twisted.

Conspiracy theory's have always been and always will make for good theater. Endeavor to find the truth.

Peace!

Barnabas is another word for "John Doe", this can be anyone.
All Gospels are written by disciples, there were no John Doe's within the 12 disciples group ;)

Because it was written several hundred years after the Bible was canonized.

Islam needs the Gospel of Barnabus to show the invalidity of Jesus as Messiah. Yet, the Quran itself says that Jesus was not crucified (this is the foundation of Christianity - it is where Jesus fulfilled biblical prophesy as the sin offering for the world).

So, what is to become of the Islamic worshipper? Jesus said that He was the only way to Heaven. To find out what happens to those that reject Jesus as a sin offering, go to www.SpiritLessons.com and listen to the testimony of Bill Weise.

It's a Gnostic gospel and was considered as heretical because it did not contain the truth about Jesus ie questioned his divinity

There is a LOT of stuff not included in the bible! You'd be surprised. A lot of the stuff that is contradictory has been left out. Check out APOCRYPHA in Google.
