Because the bible said so, and that is all they will ever believe in. When the so-called Christians decide to blow up abortion clinics or murder abortion doc's and nurses, their answer "it was God's will" or the so-called Christians would say that "Their not true Christian or Believers" or the so-called Christians of the Fred Philips family, going to funerals, holding signs like "Take God for I.E.D's" or "God hates Gay's" type of message, how about the co-called Christians on the Jesus Camp DVD, what sort of brainwashed messages are they telling to the young children?, or how the so-called Christians that are trying to put the bible in the science class via I.D. crap..... I could go on and on about this.

They don't care who or what you are, it's either their way or receive their hate about how you have sinned and not being saved; they're children that have brainwashed and they don't know any better and grew into adults, I believe they (the so-called Christians) must be saved from themselves, before they destroy the world.

I was born free, I'll die free.

As you probably know, most Christians consider the Bible to be the absolute truth. Whatever it says, goes.

There are several verses in the Bible that say things like, "Do not be deceived...men who practice homosexuality will not inherit the kingdom of God" (Romans 6:10).

Because the Bible says things like this, Christians believe it. Very few Christians have any rational justification for why homosexuality is wrong.

Other Christians would tell you that homosexuality is "unnatural." Sexual activity, they say, was meant to be between two people of the opposite sex, for the purpose of making children.

Hope that helps. I'm just as confused as you!

i have self belief that many Christians are smitten by homosexuality, because it contains emotions that maximum have had at some degree of their progression and it surely marks those who're "diverse". they don't cry about the different issues because they have a distorted view of deviance, Crime in society, environmental destruction, corruption, and poverty lack an similar experience of intimacy and innate and unchangeable nature. they seem harder to perceive and at the same time as noted extra accessible to isolate and punish. Christians can brush aside their duty for the evil contained in the international and harp about the immorality of sexual orientation surely stereotyped and condemned.

really? a lie? oh, so I guess the fact that they made it legal, encouraged and defended in Canada is a lie too. seriously, in Canada, freedom of speech is not the same: you can't say ANYTHING even slightly offenive. saying 'I don't support homosexuality' can send you to court in some cases. you want America to be next?

really, if it wasn't such a pressed issue, there'd be so much less to worry about. they were getting married before with little problem. but when you make it law to go against God, then Christians get angry with it more.

homosexuality was already listed as a sin. in Biblical accounts, when a nation made it lawful to disobey God, then judgement was immanent. Soddom and Gomorrah were burnt to an ash, nations where child sacrifice were manditory were wiped out, etc. we don't want America to be ina place of judgement, even if it's not as sever as S&G.

Minorities are easy targets. Especially, if they are perceived as immoral. Please do not get me wrong, I do not believe that way. But many who call themselves Christian do.

These people think that by crusading against gays makes them better people. They think that fighting this battle is the same as helping those in need like the homeless, prisoners, abused children and the mentally ill. How much good will be done when we can take all that energy that is being focused on something that cannot be changed and focus it on things that can be changed.

Look at what Jesus had to say in Matthew 5.

1Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2and he began to teach them saying:
3"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

He also said, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' in Matthew 25:40. He says this in the telling of the parable of the Sheep and the Goats. In this parable he instructs his followers to minister to the sick, hungry or needy and to prisoners. He never said anything about bashing those who different than us.

Note: Several verses quoted in other answers are inaccurate. I recommend you look them up, as I did. Theology cannot be based on one verse but the Bible as a whole.

Agreed. They do seem preoccupied with a lot of sexual issues.

The idea that it is being forced upon them comes from the way they think. As in "if we believe it, so must everyone".

True dat, it's just one paragraph in Leviticus.

I thought Christians didn't have to follow OT teachings anyway...

Because we took away their right to hate Jews and blacks. Without a scapegoat, they can't express their exclusivity.

The gays will be accepted pretty soon, though. Then they'll only have us atheists to hate.
