what does it mean when a guy texts you at 456 am saying
"sleeping"

he was sleeping
or someone text him asking what he was he doing

1. Well if you text-ed him first, than it means he was telling you that he was sleeping right now and doesn't want to text.
2. Or if you did not text him first and he just sent you this text message at 4:56 AM, then it means he was asking you if you were sleeping, he was checking to see if you were awake so you could text with him, he should have wrote "sleeping?", so you could understand better.
3. Only other possibility is he was answering someone else's text message, and accidentally sent it to your phone.
These are the only reasons i can think of that make any sense.

if he texted u suddenly out of the blue, it meant a question like "ARE YOU SLEEPING OR AWAKE?"
if u sent him a text long ago and he didn't answer, or u kept sending non stop like an obsessed psycho then he is or was sleeping but surely he doesnt feel like talking to u now. it means he's not interested in doing or talking or in u simply.

Maybe he is checking up on you, your maybe he can't sleep and want to talk to you. Maybe he is just freaky and wants to see if your freaky like him. Two freaky's make a good match.

it means hes asleep. don't overanalyze anything a guy says, because no offence but they mostly rn't really all that deep
