I think a heartfelt prayer of 2 seconds...is heard by God..whereas a lengthy prayer said for the glorification of ones own person probably does not reach it's suppossed intended recipient.

Shiane, the length of prayer does not actually matter. Jesus gave us the best
example when asked by his apostles to teach them how to pray. He told them
the best prayer of all which is the Our Father. In those few sentences there is
the essence of what we should pray. First we should praise the Lord, thank him for His doings and then present our prayers. So it does not need to take long, the important thing is to be knowing what you are saying. God knows
what we need before we even say the word. But He wants us to pray to Him
to show him that we have faith in Him. If you feel at ease and have time it is
nice to enlarge your prayer session by reading the Bible, especially the Psalms and the Gospels. But do not enlarge your prayers just to say it was long. No, never do it. Be as short as possible and how you feel. Be sincere
and pray as if you are speaking face to face and not necessary prepared prayers, which most of the times don't understand it at all.
Hope to have been of help. When you have time just say, 'Jesus son of David, have mercy, for I have sinned'. He will give you the spirit of real prayer
God bless you

Any prayer is better than no prayer ;) I believe that God honors it all. However, I also believe the more time we can devote to prayer/communication with God, the more we may receive. Sometimes having a quiet alone time with God where we can hear his voice or get a clearer thought from him is possibly when we just sit and listen. So, even if you are not actively talking to God, listening can still lengthen your prayer time because that is a part of communicating too!

"does the length of prayer matter?" - No. GOD can understand between the lines, unsaid prayers, half a prayer, thoughts of others, concern in emotional state of person asking/praying.
You can take time to say each name individually in the phone book, or simple say "watch over everyone in phone book" GOD understands this is the same thing.
What is time to GOD?
You must be sincere, and humble when talking to GOD.

It is not the length of time spent in prayer, but rather truly praying with your heart. It is up to each individual and what they pray about to determine the amount of time you devote to prayer. It is between you and God.

No.

It doesn't matter if you prayer for a second or an hour. It still won't accomplish anything, except waste time.

One man with a hammer can do more good than a billion people praying.

No. Other things are to be considered in the matter of prayer.
I imagine a good guage of how effective it is would be to ask yourself if any of your prayers have been answered.

THE LORD ASK US TO SPEND AT LEAST 30 MIN IN THE 24
HOURS.HE KNOWS OUR HEARTS.IT DEPENDS ON HOW YOU PRAY,IF YOU ARE SINCERE YOU WILL DO IT WITH ALL YOUR HEART,SOUL AND MIND.
Jesus' teaching on prayer
M't:6:5: And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
M't:6:6: But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
M't:6:7: But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
M't:6:8: Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
M't:6:9: After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
M't:6:10: Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
M't:6:11: Give us this day our daily bread.
M't:6:12: And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
M't:6:13: And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
M't:6:14: For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
M't:6:15: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Nothing matters except that it comes from a sincere heart and a contrite spirit and that it is done without doubt in Jesus Christ.
