We have a family room in the basement of our home. It does not have any windows. I am looking for a color that is welcoming, and comfortable to paint our walls.

put a mirror on the opposite wall to where you sit as it will reflect light and give the room a bigger appearance , stick to light colours like cream, latte, mint green. avoid dark colours and bright colours as this will close the room in. use light accessories in cushions and throw rugs, avoid stripes and any hazardous patterns as this will also close the room in. have a focal point like a poster or picture on the wall, if it is a small wall use two to three prints 8x 10" or one large one metre size if you have a large wall.

If you have children consider a shade of orange. Back in the 1970s the US government found that orange soothes children; my elementary school had orange panels all throughout the interior. I would then do the ceiling in a light shade of what is known as shell pink (yes, believe it or not, it looks great together). Trim in a cream that leans more white than yellow. Voila!

I'd say a soft yellow with just a touch of pink in it. No...it doesn't LOOK pink, but it warms up the shade of yellow a little. I have that color in my livingroom which has lots of dark wood (vaulted ceiling) in it. The color really warms things up.

Off white or a real light beige color would work well.

I would go with a clear chartreuse along with reds and offwhites, and wooden furniture.

I got sick of beiges a long time ago, now I decorate for me, not the realtor :-)
